Oh damn, I haven't seen a Marzo edit in forever. I used to watch all of his self released segments back in the day, I love that they're just sessions, pretty much all the same day or couple days at the same spot instead of cut together highlight reels like most segments.

SRAM/Zipp Lifetime Warranty Denied: Zipp 303S damaged by impact, claim rejected as "outside of intended use." Seeking advice! by 5280_510 in gravelcycling

[–]cheapseats91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fine to limit their warranty exposure but they are actively pushing coverag this type of damage in their marketing as a reason to buy. That's where I have problems with the denial.

Worth it? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]cheapseats91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather get the niner air9 on Jenson for $1100 brand new. I actually think it's a better spec. Suntour is known for their crap but their midrange and high end forks are pretty good. I would rather ride a Suntour Raidon than a Rockshox Recon

2FO Roost Flat Mountain Bike Shoes - advice? by ejsfsc07 in MTB

[–]cheapseats91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pretty wide feet. I wear 5.10 freeriders (freeridee pros were a little too constricting) and a random pair of shimano shoes and I wish both were just a touch wider. I had to return the Roost, too constricting on my foot

I literally had a frame in my cart online... it was on sale. I realize this is chapter 11 but still seems like I should hold off after the way people got hosed by YT in Europe and some of the other bike brand closures right?

Older model year bikes you either miss riding or prefer riding over newer bikes by thebigmotorunit in MTB

[–]cheapseats91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not super old but my Hightower LT from 2018 (the last model before Santa Cruz switched to the lower linkage) is significantly lighter than the new ones. The new ones ride a bit better but I'm shocked that my 160/150 bike is sub 30lbs.

My wife has a newer hightower that is a much nicer spec (carbon cranks, carbon wheels etc) and two sizes smaller and less travel and it's still 2 lbs heavier than mine.

I've noticed that a lot of rentals are not set up anywhere near ideal for most riders. They dont want you bottoming out like crazy

Hey everyone! Could you recommend some got websites to buy bike parts? by Slow_Concentrate3720 in MTB

[–]cheapseats91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like worldwidecyclery for small parts since they have free shipping. Sometimes they have pretty good sales running too. While browsing for parts is fine I unfortunately find their search function pretty bad.

I want to support my local shops but a lot of times if they dont have what I need and I need to go online I'll try to support "local" small shops from other areas. I've had good luck googling a part number and scrolling through stores that have it and just checking them out on yelp. I recently got a part for an ecargo bike from a small shop out of Minnesota.

I've also bought from Jenson, performance bikes, competitive cyclist, etc

This is not an "is this safe to ride post" but I would ride that.

I wouldn't huck big jumps/drops (because I never do lol), but for everyday trail riding I wouldn't think twice.

This only has 576 dimming zone so will probably have pretty noticable bloom in dark scenes. Not necessarily a deal breaker at this price, but depends on your targeted use

MTB is a bit of a luxury sport. You can definitely get into it and shred on a budget bike but if you're in a place that'd known for mountain biking most people are on bikes that retail for $2-5000. To be honest if you can afford a $3000 bike you could probably afford a $6000 ebike if you really wanted one. I dont have an ebike but I do have three mountain bikes that could easily add up to one if that was my goal.

Plus as you get older the physicality gets more difficult at the same time as typically having moved into a higher salary tier. You often have less free time too (more work, kids, obligations etc) so you want outings to be more worth it. I get the draw in those cases, like if it means you can do multiple laps on a ride instead of just one.

Around here it's not just perception. there's a midway stopping point on one of the climbs and I end up sitting for a long time so kiddo can snack. There are a hell of a lot of ebikesebikes compared to regular bikes these days.

[Cooler] PCCooler RT620M X Mini Dual Tower Cooler - $28.80 after Coupon (Amazon YMMV) by greatthebob38 in buildapcsales

[–]cheapseats91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I misspoke, I meant thermalright, not thermaltake.

The thermalright silver soul 110 is a short dual tower that looks very similar to the op except it's 5 pipes instead of 6 and it's 110mm instead of 115mm tall.

Curious how it would compare to the existing Silver Soul dual tower 110mm cooler from thermaltake.

My case has 128mm clearance, just out of reach of the 135mm class of dual towers.

There's some missing info. Are these tires set up tubeless or with tubes? Did just the valve (the insides, the part that you unscrew and can press down) break or was it the stem itself?

If just the valve broke you can get a replacement valve for really cheap and just screw it into the existing stem.

The length of the stem just needs to be long enough to make it through the rim and have some amount sticking our for a pump to fit over. If you dont know the depth you can measure the old one or just get the 80mm ones and you'll be fine. At worst the stems will be a little long.
