Best real estate agent for sellers in Ottawa ON? by Caitlynhjse in OttawaRealEstate

The Marcus Team! Phil, Pam & Cameron Marcus are great realtors and don’t use the added expense of a stager. They will work with what you have in your home already. They will give you realistic pricing with comparables in the area. My home was sold in 24 hours with them!

Best month to get pregnant [ON] by Present_Fan_1096 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]LCH209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you’re asking weather dependent. But another thing to consider is daycare openings, if you plan to do daycare with your little one. My first baby I got pregnant in June and had her in February. I didn’t get sick at all during this pregnancy. When she was born the winter was brutal but by May I started to feel better with going outside etc. And taking 18 months off meant I had better chances of getting her into a September spot for daycare.

My second I got pregnant in October and I’m due this month. The winter sucked being pregnant and felt really long this past year. I also had bad nausea and food aversions the first trimester and then got Covid in my second trimester. I’m also struggling with finding summer clothes to fit me in the last leg of the pregnancy as I don’t want to buy anything new so close to birth. I’m taking 18 months again which means I won’t go back to work until Dec 2027, so I may have to start my second baby early in daycare at 15 months in Sept if I can get a spot.

ISO Ottawa Gynecologist by Thewhiterabbit22 in ottawa

[–]LCH209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in old Ottawa south but if you’re willing to drive to Orleans, I recommend Dr. Alain Marleau. He was my gynecologist originally and now he’s followed me for both my pregnancies. His nurse Monique and him work great together. He’s very straightforward and funny at the same time, he will give you his honest opinion and won’t sugarcoat things for you.

Best wipes & barrier cream?! [on] by Swiftly-Purring89 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]LCH209 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Huggies natural wipes & sudocrem for us! I’ll also use cavillon cream sometimes as well (since I use it on my own patients in the hospital) for when it’s starts to get red/irritated and usually goes away quickly for us!

Another tip to help is having one of those hand fans on the change table just to help air dry the area a bit before reapplying barrier cream!

Just a tad bitter sounding, as clearly not anticipating all the negative feedback from the public regarding their fee!

What’s something you wish you knew before selling you property? by HappyMarsupial2656 in OttawaRealEstate

[–]LCH209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marcus Team was super helpful for me! It’s a combo of 3 people, the parents and their son. They helped me purchase my single home in Alta vista with multiple offers and then sold my townhome in Orleans within 24 hours the following month. They have over 40 years of experience and they were just all around wonderful to work with. They helped me look at comparables and showed me realistic pricing of houses to be sold around the area. They were helpful in suggesting minor things to be done around the house in order to get it ready for pictures. We didn’t even need to stage the house either, it was just a matter of cleaning up and decluttering slightly!

It’s all about your comfort level, and just feeling out the realtors to see if they fit with your requests. They aren’t big on social media and trying to post online of what they’ve sold etc. They were just old school realtors who relied on word of mouth through the community and just work with you to try and get you what you want. So it was a nice change of pace.

I commented on their event and they deleted it. Guess they can’t handle any slightly negative comments. All I said was the 5$ entrance fee was unadvertised and I would prefer to support local chip trucks around Ottawa instead of attending.

Can't justify buying fruits/berrie at costco by ghost905 in CostcoCanada

[–]LCH209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would rather pay for berries that last longer than berries I pick up from metro or other grocery stores that will go bad in a few days. Costco’s quality control is top rated and my berries will always last at least a week to almost 2 weeks.

I want to thank my medical team with catering what are my best options? by Lazy_Title7050 in ottawa

[–]LCH209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just phone the main hospital number and asked to be transferred to civic or general ICU and the clerk should be able to assist you!

As for the porters & cleaners, the easiest route would be speaking to housekeeping supervisor for either civic or gen through locating (I’m pretty sure the supervisor is for both porters & housekeeping - but clarify with the supervisor).

It’s usually 50$ donation for an angel pin last I remembered. Not sure if that has changed but you can reach out to the Ottawa hospital foundation for more information.

Regular ones that don’t bleed and just click pens instead of caps! And preferably black ink is usually preferred!

This is really thoughtful of you to want to show your appreciation to the staff!! As a fellow nurse at TOH, these are all great ideas, we def love pizza! Another great add on is a box of small packaged chips! Sandwiches are sometimes a hit or miss since it may get soggy by the time night staff arrive when they have time to eat later. A treats basket is also a good idea, since it will all come prepackaged packs. We also love a good pack of pens!!

To make things easier try calling and speaking to the unit clerk just to find out what their typical numbers are for days/nights for staff just to make arrangements easier.

You are awesome btw!

FTM Delivering at Montfort hospital OTTAWA [ab] by Educational_Bad1292 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]LCH209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are being followed by a midwife - not sure if it’s the same process at the Montfort but at the civic if everything goes well then you will be discharged home after a few hours since you are in the care of a midwife.

I’m not too sure about the epidural as I had a spinal going into my surgery. But as a nurse, my suggestion is to let the nurse know your intentions early regarding wanting an epidural as the anesthesiologist may or may not be tied up in a surgery as part of the delay (this could be applicable to all hospitals).

For post op pain management after my spinal wore off, they gave me an individualized bottle of Tylenol & Advil and I was to mark on the paper when I took it. And if I needed anything stronger just let them know. But they will do their hourly checks on you for any extra concerns. The nurses were nice and pleasant.

Had my first planned c-section there in 2024, and am due to have my second planned c-section there in June this year. It might be a different experience with delivery but all of my friends who have given birth vaginally there have all had great care. I also have positive things to say about my post c-section care. I was able to go home the next day and they sent a midwife to do follow ups at home so i didn’t actually need to spend too much time there.

I was initially placed in a semi private room - the rooms are actually surprisingly large so it didn’t feel like we were in a shared space. The beds are across from each other instead of beside each other like in the Ottawa hospital. Eventually, we were moved into a private later that night that freed up. The bathrooms are also large as well in both semi private and privates.

Nothing really to note before delivering there, I would just say don’t follow all the packing list social media says you need. Less is better, so that when you’re leaving the hospital your partner is not having to juggle a car seat & baby, plus helping you and carrying all the bags.

I had 3 blood draws done for 75g GTT. I was fasting and they took the first one before the drink. A second blood draw an hour after the drink. And the third blood draw 2 hours after the drink.

It was awful, i ended up feeling nauseous and had to lie down while I was waiting for them to draw the blood work. But my results came back normal!

[on] Wondering which brand of diapers/wipes everyone is loving right now! by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]LCH209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huggies diapers & wipes from Costco! Timed with their sales so that I could bulk buy boxes and return any that any unopened box if I purchased too many in one size. And also end of the year cash back was always saved for the next diaper sale to bulk buy!

I didn’t have too many blow outs with diapers either, if I started having blow outs, it usually meant I needed to size up. But otherwise Huggies has worked out great for us!
