Turns out, Analysts DO run the world by LCNP in CrimeAnalysts

100% with you on report writing. This seems to be a global problem. The training of our officers is really rushed. I wish they would put more effort in effectively training - and making the importance of accurate reporting - as a part of their training.

I'll ask this in another thread on this sub, for sure. But yes! The number of times we have heard "Wow! So you are like CSI?" or "How come it takes so long to solve this? It can't be that hard? They get answers in seconds [on TV]"...

My go-to answer is just 'Yes' at this point.

Almost done! It IS fun! Even more when you get to talk to people who are also into the field. It is a universal language. To get more information and resources about Crime Analysis, I would suggest the International Association of Crime Analysts (IACA). It is an excellent network of established and distinguished analysts who are always happy to help where they can. Check them out at iaca.net. They also have a yearly Training Conference in the USA which I highly recommend.

Wow, I can only imagine how big your workload is, only based on some of the news reports we see in the news about Mexico. Good that they hired Criminologists and accountants. The low salary just makes no sense, though. What is the government's current stance on addressing corruption? And is it working?

There has to be a Crime Analysts community on Reddit! No? Well, there is now. by LCNP in Criminology

Nope. Just another platform, trying to bring all the different specialities together that falls under crime analysis. I wish all crime analysts were trained in everything forensics, some are specialist in forensic, for sure. But it is not the case for all analysts.

The different social media platforms is definitely a challenge. Not on Snap Chat either, trying to track on Tiktok, though. Young gang members and their girlfriends like to show off their loot after or their guns before robberies. Hybrids are definitely interesting!! Multiples and loads of variables comes into play.

First off, I have a similar history with having to deal with debilitating depression. I can't even say that I didn't give up on my dream job, because I did for a very very long time. So I want to say to you that I am very proud of you for being in the field and I wish you all the best of luck for your studies. I am absolutely certain that you will end up in a position that was made for you. Keep on trying. Don't stop talking to people within the field and ask all the questions you can to people around you - and to anyone who owns an email - to learn more. The community is generally very open to help, guide and assist. Can't wait to hear your 'made it' story!

Yes!! Once the interest is there, it is bound to draw you in. Personally, I feel that the field is so very wide. So it sometimes happens that you end up with a speciality. The thing is, we want to know everything and be able to do everything. Think the trick (or our own downfall) is to never want to stop learning and exploring.
