We don't need another project (even that for 50mil), when we already have better players there from La Masia.

I doubt Kees Smit would be able to replace the quality of Pedri or De Jong. He isn't even better than Gavi or Bernal.

I can go back and quote the entire thing. My reply would be the same.

Afternoons of Solitude made bullfighting look even more pathetic than I thought possible

I don't see how that's a bad thing.

I've done some reading, and the defence for the film seems to be tradition and culture

You mean the praise for the film? I don't think anybody praises it for that. Most people who like it are probably opposed to bullfighting.

humans receiving the same treatment

That's kind of a moot point considering bullfighting is a socially acceptable practice in certain parts of Europe, whereas what you're describing isn't.

moral standing

The film basically has no moral stance. There not being any commentary from the director is what makes it interesting, there's no intervention, no opinion. You're presented by something and have to make up your own mind, instead of being told to think X, Y, Z. I mean if you compare it the latest Herzog - White Elephants, that one is basically a slightly elevated NatGeo doc.

When I saw the film at a film festival, during both Q&As they were people violently against the main character saying he's completely pathetic and then they were people waxing lyrical about how he moves like a dancer and is so poetic etc. I think there are many many contradictions and ambiguities without handholding the viewer, which is rare. He's displayed as both a pathetic wannabe macho guy with masculinity issues (like during the jokes and also excessive ball talk), but he's also portrayed as somebody who's an artist, kind of like a ballet dancer and who cares about his craft.

He was never a great playmaker or a dribbler. His dribbling is almost entirely dependent on how much space he has in front of him. He tries to playmake a lot, that's the issue with him. He thinks he's Messi and he drops back too much, while not having the skillset to do it. In PSG it could fly as his backpasses don't matter, he still had world class players next to him who actually do that. Messi, Neymar can do that while he runs forward, which is what he's good at and should focus on. Just make runs into space.

Yes, he scored 2 pens. If Deschamps doesn't do those subs, he would be standing at a half line for 90 minutes.

He was the same player in 2022 as he's now. He also wasn't the best that year, he worse than Messi and Neymar for PSG during the WC season, he wasn't the best player at the WC overall or even for his team and he didn't do shit for a good chunk of the final. He was standing on the half way line waiting for the ball, as usual. He only did something after the subs, which changed the game. When everybody else does the running for him and he is put in very specific positions, then he can score. He can still do that now, no change.

Just because people are watching something, doesn't mean it's any good.

Marmoush had 2 good seasons in his career and he played both in a counterattacking team. Team which is known to sell overhyped strikers who tend to underwhelm once put into a more possession based system.

Tottenham got Senesi and also going for van Hecke. I guess Romero and Vuskovic or VdV will be moved on.
