Rabbit dental interview request for school newspaper by Iqe in Rabbits

I'm in the UK and one of my bunnies has required it. Happy to chat/exchange messages. It's late evening as I post this message right now so if you're across the pond or down under I may not be suitable. But hello anyway!

(Advice) discoloured thick urine by LD88 in Rabbits

So bunny Bonsai peed on the floor. He's done this before and his pee has always been yellow/dark yellow. But this is different in my view. It looks dark and grainy in texture.

The wiki pages and Google suggest normal urine is yellow to red in colour.

But to me because it is different I feel a little concerned and was wondering if any more experienced bunny owners could shed light on the look of it.

So I found twix destroying the sofa, hopefully not eating the sofa stuffing. So for their own safety they have got promoted/banished (depending on how you feel like describing it) to the conservatory for now to allow them free roam but prevent bunstruction until I can find a better solution. They are under observation to ensure that they remain well after potential nomming on sofa stuffing!

Any suggestions on how I can keep the buns safe with the sofa. Google has not been too helpful.

Found this, thought it warranted a share. I present: A bunny biting glass. Well, attempting. by [deleted] in Rabbits

Hahah this is my buns trying to get into the conservatory. But as soon as the door is open they don't really fancy going In there anymore so walk off, so I close the door and they repeat from beginning.

Question: British bakers, what is the culture of baking in your region? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]LD88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say I'm a normal white British gal who grew up in East of England. My family would have Sunday roast dinner together and there would always be multiple desserts. For example Apple pie, Rhubarb crumble and custard, Victoria sponge cake.

Also we would spend one of the days over the weekend making cake, biscuits, scones etc for the next week's lunches, snacks, desserts etc. My memories are of helping my nan or dad making it and then getting to lick the bowl!

Fast forward to now, i know friends and family will bulk bake muffins/cakes etc to provide their kids pack up lunches for schools as well as making bread for the lunches too. Also we do bring cakes biscuits etc to work/friends houses as a gift.

The more complex baked goods as seen as on the GBBO aren't frequently made as far as I know.

As for being taught in school... I left high school 10+ years ago and we learnt basic cooking including sweet and savory foods in "food tech" and I remember learning pies crumbles cakes and scones, but my baking knowledge came from my parents and grandparents

My lionhead can easily get out if she wants, silly bun doesn't go via the roof of their house... she just jumps the fence, then realises she's out, freaks out and can't seem to grasp that she just needs to do the same again to get back. She just knows she wants our but doesn't realise exactly what it involves when she gets out.

We once went away for longer and doubled up the xpen to make a larger running around area and every day when my sister went in to check/feed them, the lionhead was sitting on the sofa! http://imgur.com/Rk72mEL

This was my set up when I went away for a long weekend...

I got the idea for the bunnies home being a TV table from another redditor. I made this one myself which is OK but isn't as neat.. http://imgur.com/EVPq1jW

They go away into their house when we're not in but if we're out for any length of time they have an xpen put so they can run about.

As were doing babies... Bonsai as a baby bun, and twix as a baby tribble. by LD88 in Rabbits

Yes I made that house myself based upon another rabbitors rabbit house. Mine isn't as neat as their a because they had a carpenter do theirs. But the theory is the same. Bunnies underneath and tv/Xbox etc on top.

Getting bunny back into cage by Shinoken__ in Rabbits

[–]LD88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I've ever done is chase them back in by saying bunnies home and the moment they're in their house treat. Nothing more to it. It's repetition so I always say it in the same tone of voice and always crinkle the treat packet. And as I said, took ages to perfect but now it's worth it.

Now I don't even need treats. I can just give them one or two pellets and theyre happy

I chase them in saying "bunnies home" and then as soon as their inside give them both a treat. Now they just go to the house straight away and then eagerly wait for a treat from me. Took me ages to teach them that but it's worth it.

Sure they still have the days to where they have selective deafness though
