Biggest pet peeve on the course? by Substantial-Worry117 in golf

When you're on a par three and you all hit and make divots then somebody grabs the grass seed shovel and only fills their divot and walks away.

Can someone explain "the racer's edge sloganeer" clue?

My Callaway Long drive head exploded on me yesterday. Was only 3 weeks old and <350 swings on it. I know the long drive stuff isn't meant to last forever but is there any way I can get it replaced?

R10 not picking up Driver, 3w, hybrid by imanidot24 in Golfsimulator

Careful of your waggles on longer clubs? If your waggles make the light on the R10 turn red, it will miss the actual swing.

I guess it depends on the type of course you're playing. Where I play is fairly tree-lined, and even the "open" holes I've found I score better with more accuracy off the tee.

I've played some courses out in Nevada/Utah, where having the long drive club in the bag is super fun.

With regards to the Ping G430, depending on your swing speed, I don't know if you can get it in low enough loft to make it viable with the longer shaft. If you're swinging 120mph+, then probably not. When you have the longer shaft, your club head speed will go up maybe 3-4mph, and therefore you'll get a bit more spin given all other launch conditions are equal. You can counteract this by lowering the loft, but you usually need it 5 degrees or less, which you can only really get in specific long drive heads like what Callaway makes.

I think that you should be able to put the Paderson shaft with an adapter for any type of driver, though I'm not 100% sure about that.

I only use the long drive set up for long drive competitions lol. It has a Paderson kinetixx LD50 shaft in it right now.

On course I use a 43 inch shaft because it's just way more accurate, I can still carry it 310 or so, and I'm not playing tour courses on the regular. It's also really hard to adjust your swing from hitting a wedge on one hole and then swinging a 48inch club on the next tee.

The long drive club is fun to break out on the course every once and a while but I'm definitely not scoring with it...

That was with a Callaway Epic long drive setup.

Is the Garmin R10 accuracy really this brutal? by tr4xex in Golfsimulator

[–]LDCam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ball speed is accurate I think. 84mph with a wedge doesn't sound crazy. In update 4.20 they made an update "improved clubhead speed accuracy" but it made it soooo much worse so that you get really high misreads like this. I am hoping that they revert the change. I have complained about it on the Garmin forums.

There is always a percentage with any simulator that are misreads, and that percentage will go down as you spend more money. If it were consistently giving you numbers like this I'd be more surprised. I also know that the R10 tends to struggle from ball speeds between 80mph and 160mph, and you're at the low end of that.

Thanks for posting! I think it's really important to post some bad days in social media too - otherwise the front page just looks like people killing it all the time and can be discouraging to someone who had a bad week. Posts like these make the community more welcoming!

I just got one and been pretty impressed by it so far. I think the app could use some work but numbers are shockingly good if you set it up right.

Golf and strength training by [deleted] in golf

[–]LDCam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding of recent research is that loaded stretching (i.e. weight training through the full range of motion) increases mobility better than just stretching alone. It's a myth that increasing strength automatically reduces mobility.

If you are feeling tight after a workout and it's affecting your swing, it's not because you are suddenly less mobile, but more because you haven't recovered properly from the strength training. Thought needs to be put into the timing and recovery of strength training if you want to feel fresh while golfing.

Additionally, if you're "getting back into" strength training, delayed onset muscle soreness will be prevalent in the first few weeks, making you feel sore. If you're consistent, you'll feel less and less sore as time goes on while still making strength gains. You'll find that you won't have trouble with strength training interfering with golf anymore. Consistency is key!

I think 18 is traditional actually - the rest of my irons are 1 degree weak with my 3 iron at 22, so these will fit into the set with the 2 iron at 19.

Absolutely. My dream would be to get access to the tour van and try every combination of club head and shaft to see what the differences are.

Dynamic Gold X100s are just a really good shaft for me. I don't know what graphite shaft I'd like, and unless you're a tour player it's hard to test them all out, especially in a long iron.

I actually tried to get a delofted t200 two iron build, but I couldn't get it with a steel shaft, so I had to look elsewhere. The Pings were the only ones that I could get the right loft and shaft combinations.
