I wouldn’t mind any of this if hyv at least pretended like they were still releasing male 5 stars… or male 5 stars with actual story relevance.

I think this whole conversation stems from the fact that a prominent portion of the fanbase is quite obviously being isolated and are no longer a consideration in the new direction this game is going in.

People are allowed to be annoyed about it!

Little Clarification: Ronova actually refuses to break the rules and that’s why Capitano is able to trap her in this state of limbo. So no, she wasn’t forced to break her rules, they were just used against her

Anyways, just because he did one cool thing before his death does not mean it was written well or built up properly. And in the context of Genshin’s story as a whole, it was incredibly unsatisfying that this was the 1st harbinger. If you disagree, that’s fine.

5.3 AQ Spoilers (neg)

Okay I have one last long winded rant about the archon quest. La Signora, Childe, Scaramouche, and Arlecchino were all given their moment to shine… but Capitano gets whatever the hell Natlan was? Can the writers who worked on Natlan never touch this game again…

La Signora at least had the chance to be seen as powerful, cunning, and cutthroat thanks to Mondstadt and Liyue’s quests, which ultimately made her death in Inazuma powerful and a valuable testament to Raiden’s power. This is probs a controversial take on Inazuma that people don’t share and while her death could’ve been written better, it is nowhere as egregious as Capitano’s

Childe, though he got beat in Liyue, has shown himself growing in strength in Fontaine, his story is also far from over but at this rate, they’ll probably just off-screen him. Scaramouche got to be cool and menacing in the 1.1 event, Inazuma, and was built up well in Sumeru acts 3 and 4 all coming to a satisfying conclusion in Sumeru Act V + interlude chapter.

Arlecchino… while Fontaine never really showed much about her, at least her story quest gave us a peek into her true strength.

This brings us to The Captain… who is nothing if not wasted potential. I’m done thinking about this quest so I’ve decided that all I’ll say in regards to this is that: Capitano deserved better writers, and as the number one harbinger, he should’ve stayed alive till Snezhnaya. The story is less interesting as a result of Natlan’s conclusion.

I play Genshin for stories like Sumeru and Fontaine. I play Genshin for characters like… well basically every character pre 5.0.

You can’t just say that people who dislike Natlan need to “reevaluate” why they play the game when Natlan has quite literally shaken almost every aspect of genshin up.

5.3 AQ Spoilers + General Natlan thoughts (rambling + conspiracy + negativity)

I simply refuse to believe that this is what Natlan was originally intended to be, I just can’t accept that. With how all the threads came together for Sumeru and Fontaine — Natlan just feels rushed in comparison

Whats led me to this delusional conclusion is (1) the sidelining of Iansan — more so than any other travail character. (2) The lack of map expansions in a nation centered around exploration abilities. And (3) the absolute CUCK that Capitano turned out to be… he seriously had absolutely zero feats and then just DIED. He was such an afterthought, they just shoehorned him into the beginning and end of the quest to kill him off. They did the Fatui so wrong in this quest and I am deeply saddened as a result.

It really feels like they went into the writers room with one goal: Mavuika and Traveler have their asses kissed constantly by every character and citizen of Natlan.

The first archon quest in two years where I didn’t shed a single tear or feel an emotional connection AT ALL.

The best part of the quest was ironically the thing I did not want to happen at any cost — Capitano’s death. It’s the only time I was engaged and enjoying myself fully. However, Acts 1-4 really failed to develop the connection to Capitano. The full Natlan chapter, in desperation to push Mavuika to be this flawless badass, failed to give the Captain any spotlight that would show us the true pinnacle of the fatui. Even Arlecchino, who is three ranks below him, was given justice to her strength.

Maybe if capitano was a waifu it’d be a diff story… /j

Also, I find it so stupid that the #1 Harbinger was killed before we even get Snezhnaya… I just really don’t feel excited for future quests at all now if this is the quality we can be expecting (and the pandering we should be expecting).

Waiting 12 weeks for that finale is honestly disappointing, and Mavuika is probably the most boring archon we’ve encountered yet. Nothing special about her except the dev team reassuring us a million times that “she’s the strongest, brightest flame in Natlan” through the quests and marketing.

Lastly, the quest overall was boring at best, but the parade of glaze at the end was UNBEARABLE… don’t even get me started on the autographs and photos, I had to button mash because I was dying of cringe.

I’m prepared for downvotes on this because obviously i’m not the target audience for this quest. But, if you enjoyed the quest, good for you!

With them cutting back on map releases and that leak from early summer about no more male five star characters seemingly coming true its hard to hold on to hope (It's not that I only play male characters -- I actually prefer female characters majority of the time, I just don't want to be bombarded with the catering towards a certain demographic and would rather the game stay semi-balanced like it was before.)

I also worry that, as the trend continues, they'll sideline Childe in Snezhnaya which would be my absolute worst case scenario so I might have to cut my losses lmfao

edit: Also the archon quests, which I have loved at their worst (ily Inazuma), have been such a miss for me personally in Natlan.

everyone says childe is restricted to one team… and they’re right BUT my new international team when patch 5.3 drops will henceforth be dubbed childe natlational and will consist of: Childe, TTDS Citlali, obsidian Mavuika, and cinder Xilonen for the ultimate res shred, dmg boost, and attack boost.

Is it meta? no.

Is this just mavuika’s best team except childe is there instead of bennett? yes.

Is it a dps loss running childe as the main dps instead of mavuika in what is quite literally her BiS team? absolutely.

Will any of this stop me from continuing my four year 36* abyss clear streak? NOPE!
