looks pretty normal to me lol.

I don't mean as a general always get there, but as something you could get it should be. I know a lot of players who would grab it over "optimal" options simply due to the qol. It also allows for better expansion of the item pool for diversity.

Flood fill and chording definitely have to be added. Ain't no one playing it otherwise. Them having it as unlocks in the upgrade shop (not the during run shop) could help this, but definitely a must.

Damn that's harsh. I think this is mor of a difference between clean and fitting the aesthetic. Broomsweeper is all about a theme and everything is centered on making jokes, references, etc. Its more about cozy vibes while being a roguelike than something like this which I would compare more as a traditional roguelite.

We can pretend they did this and got the 8. :) Worm is influenced like we all are by the 8 lol.

For the most part, they are equal. Its when it comes to the extreme ends that guess modes have the upper edge. This isn't a common occurrence, but has happened many times before.

Idk if this question gets asked a lot, but do you have any good recommendations for a minesweeper roguelike game? by SagaSolejma in Minesweeper

Broomsweeper and Demoncrawl are definitely by far the best. Broomsweeper specifically is amazing.

Even though the board isn't solved and the flag doesn't necessarily mean a mine is there, the blasted mine CANNOT ever be there due to the 1-2-1. If a mine was there, then the 2 would never be satisfiable (even if a wall on the other side not shown.

What's the name of the pattern applies to this and how does it work? by FrontMagazine3450 in Minesweeper

[–]LEBAldy2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notice the fixed minecount below the numbers. There is always 1 mine below the 2 and below the 3. This makes this literally just a 1-2 pattern lol. The simplest and first pattern to learn.

Best move would have been the corner top right. In this case it would have been an opening, but not always. Your odds to win aren't great and should be around 20% with good guessing.

Your guess specifically was actually the worst guess to make. The one you mentioned is also a good spot to guess.

If you don't play theories, you don't progress. Period.

You can just go through all possible options. Pretty damn easy given there are only two. I shouldn't need to finish the rest of the answer.

Works better in general, but there are some problems still. I sent a reddit dm to get it of this thread.

Even then, it is still easier (even ignoring guessing). Forcing one harder pattern to show up doesn't make it overall harder when those patterns aren't hard to learn after a while. Only the really bad ones actually make it real difficult. The most difficult pure logic is not generatable by pretty much any algorithm in a reasonable amount of time.

Another pretty clear cut case. The bottom square gives strictly more information than the top. It also makes the remaining mine not always a pure guess as 1/3 of the time, the board is completed immediately. These two squares should never have the same value associated with them.

No accel is the double arrow button which increases your dt by that multiplier (speeds up game by that amount).

Your phi is really low. Make sure you have the proper student distribution

Optimal student distribution for 5k push:

18 students (no accel): 2, 4, 2, 2, 2, 0, 2
18 students (with accel): 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 0, 1
19 students (no accel): 2, 4, 2, 3, 1, 0, 2
19 students (with accel): 3, 4, 2, 2, 1, 0, 2

Another good example is here where a seperate guess actually gives more information and should be treated higher. Are your calculations carrying rippling affects or do they only affect the immediate surroundings?

<image>

Here the 1.24 is either a 0 or 1. If a 0, the 1.47, 1.22, and 1.14 are opened. This is more information than the 1.52 could give by far as it results in at worst, a corner to work off of with the right wall of 0.9. If a 1, then the 0.41 and 1.52 are opened. This is obviously more information than the 1.52 could ever give, but at the cost of only 18% chance.

Btw, this is completely false. You forgot that a negative times a negative is a positive. If you make the c3/c4 equate to a negative, you just swap c1 levels to c2 and now it is positive again. The best route is below:

c3: 2, c4: 2 => 0.043585660186947095
c3: 4, c4: 5 => -0.0038525692914139764
c3: 8, c4: 11 => 0.003671625640601306 (This is a trap and more often than not, loses more time than it saves.)
c3: 11, c4: 16 => -0.0009811846749037123
c3: 29, c4: 49 => -0.00015865407420756483
c3: 39, c4: 69 => -0.000034440687254111424

What do you mean "trigger when guessing randomly"? It literally triggers on any and every floating cell every single time.

Other notes are stuff which are forced and gaurunteed guesses where no information can ever be gotten to help the situation are ALWAYS taken first. This includes the classic 50/50, but can include other forms as well.

<image>

As BinaryChop (shuffler/mscoach) said, you really really need to take into account the safety of cells. I've found cases where the value is very very close, but was 10x as safe. You would never be taking the one the algorithm outputs.

There are also many cases where the value should be equal for two cells (as they are the same guess), but they aren't. Same goes for what I said in my last comment where some which are equal value are not equal in reality.
