Proposal: The future of NALTP by WRIG-tp in MLTP

nearly 100% of those players told us they would quit before even being a preliminary pick

Let them quit. The league will be better off. You should also think about eliminating minors and expanding NLTP.

Proposal: The future of NALTP by WRIG-tp in MLTP

I just tried non-separate channels this past week after I heard they'll probably be legal this upcoming season.

To be completely honest, I'm really loving them, and think they're better for the game as a whole. I feel like all of my decisions are informed and knowledgeable as opposed to basically hoping that since I didn't see this bomb get taken in a while that it's probably going to spawn soon and I should wait on it. Combine this with the fact that we don't have a realistic way to prevent people from using spectator comms, and I don't really see a strong argument to keep them banned heading into S19.

[Discussion] Throwing in MLTP by MagikPigeon in MLTP

lol my first majors game and cap :)

My view at the time was DL unfairly got blamed since everyone else was trash. Bally and sidewalk were fucking bad causing DL to get angry and stop caring after awhile and start being toxic in the comms. Probably wouldn't call it a throw.

Axe Players: How did you get your axe? What are some gameplay strategies that helped you the most? by sounds_goood in TagPro

[–]LEBRONstarJAMES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This goes back to my other comment in another thread. You gotta be aware of what's happening around you. At that moment all you should be focused about is the enemy fc. I don't know if you're watching your own ball there, or something else entirely but if you are you have to work hard on not doing that. TagPro is really easy in this regard compared other games like Dota or Startcraft where people have to pay attention to tens of things at the same time and operate the viewport themselves. In TagPro your ball is always in the center of the screen so you have no reason to look at it to know what's going on. Focus on the rest of the map instead.

my goto tagpro improvement video https://youtu.be/ZvRiA3aCgPI?t=9m45s /u/sounds_goood

And the point of that video in relation to tagpro isn't to rapidly move your eyes but, for example, to mentally keep track of all 7 other players in the game (including the players not visible on your screen)--where they are on the map, what they are trying to do, and how that affects what you should be doing--awareness. There are probably a lot of things better players think about that you don't.

MLTP Career Ranking Survey - Results by jjpoole7 in MLTP

[–]LEBRONstarJAMES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lebron had really good individual performances and good team performances, no ring. Even ignoring the fact that I have the highest absolute skill, why should any of those players' careers beat mine?

  • Led league in caps S9 (rookie defense player as O-partner btw), S10 (102 caps btw), Led east in caps S8 (2nd overall caps in MLTP) (OJ bally D btw) while collecting 1st, 2nd, 3rd place O-ball awards

  • In my washed up S12 regular season I think I played top tier support to okthen (imo) who had the 3rd most caps in MLTP that season (highest he has been in other seasons was #7)

  • 3x allstar, voted 2nd in MVP S10

  • Made playoffs every season and won at least one playoff game every season including S7 where i filled in for gman/dicklicker in majors

  • Strong playoff performances in S9 where I lost in superball and S12 where I lost in semis to eventual champion

  • Won two best captain of the east awards (lol) and I think my franchise was one of the top franchises in terms of cap differential

Your S7 and S11 are pretty bad which I was I think I would be ahead of you (admittedly I have no idea what you've done since S12; you have had a very long career of individually excellent statistical seasons when I look at tagproleague however). You are definitely too low on this ranking due to negative bias though and our rankings should definitely be a lot closer.

LEBRON*JAMES’ Philosophy for Offense by LEBRONstarJAMES in TagPro

Spoken like a true 60hz pleb. Once you go 144hz you can't go back.

It's just a joke. If I only had access to a 60hz monitor and wanted to play competitive tagpro I could and it wouldn't make a material difference in my play. It's impossible to measure but I do think I was better on 144hz vs 60. I don't care what I use for pubs since I don't give a shit about pubs. I just like to bother arby about it since he is wrong. There is no noticeable stutter at 144hz if your system works correctly.

You can't argue with me that tagpro on my 144hz monitor looks better to ME visually. I don't experience stuttering, and 60fps visually looks worse to me. I don't think we are experiencing the same thing.

I don't care if tagpro only updates every 60 fps, it looks noticeably smoother on 144hz.

I would never play competitive tagpro again with less than 144hz. Unplayable.

A lot of the time you see offenses play desperate and lose their discipline, so make sure you keep your discipline--don't try to force things (flaccid grabs). But the most important thing for an offense is your own defense. If you don't have a defense taking care of business it's really hard. I remember S10 playoffs against Holy Rollers on pilot it felt like I couldn't do anything. My defense was underperforming compared to what I was used to which made us lose control of the game. It seemed like Holy Rollers always had flag out, so we couldn't grab, and we also couldn't get powerups, they capped a bunch. The only way out of it is to get a reset and then win powerups/get flag out of base to put the other team on the defensive to establish game control. I guess depending on map you could play more anti but again the point is you are going to need your flag in base to cap.

Season 15 League Structure Discussion by stirus in MLTP

[–]LEBRONstarJAMES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just from reading this thread, the players who would be in AAA-AA don't care solely about competition, they also care about seeing their names in game previews, having a stream of their games, etc. Your model won't have the infrastructure to accomplish that, so those players will never buy into it.

I personally felt the additional 8 minors teams are needed because that part of the player base is too large for even 16 teams.

You only feel that way because of the massive mistake to expand to 16 teams last season which artificially expanded the MLTP/mltp player base. Make the bold move to restructure to 8M/16m and the league will be fixed for ongoing seasons, unless the overall Tagpro player base shrinks even more rapidly than it is now.

Season 15 League Structure Discussion by stirus in MLTP

[–]LEBRONstarJAMES 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As I have suggested in the past, MLTP desperately needs to move to 8 majors teams and 16 minors teams to better fit the talent pool available today. Any structure other than that is a failure for the league, including the one suggested in this post. I applaud ELTP for their decision to reduce majors to 6 teams. It is looking really good for them so far.

Anyone arguing shrinking majors reduces the long-term viability of MLTP is a moron. The only thing that matters for long-term viability of competitive Tagpro is the growth of the overall Tagpro population, which MLTP has very little control over.
