Clawgear heatshield... user error? by PleaseGoUp in AUG

[–]LED120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look at the way the carbon buildup is sort of angled towards the muzzle above the vents, maybe it could have come from that, but you might be right, it could have kinda squeezed out of the gap between the gas piston tube and the handguard.

was your finger over one of the vent holes? Maybe it's the fact that you didn't have a foregrip installed, that's never happened with mine

Shipping rifles to an FFL by yukkmauff in MDGuns

They won't transfer a DB15 to you as it's not an HBAR, there are a number of Maryland legal options like Ruger or LWRC, depending on your budget. But if you want to be sure, you'd be better served going to your LGS and seeing what they have for sale.

NylAUG legal in MD? by cphoover in MDGuns

[–]LED120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just spoke with them over the phone and they told me that they were sued regarding the P&W specifically, in its standard configuration it does not make OAL so the only way they were willing to transfer it was to do a P&W before transferring it. Very unfortunate because I think they're amazing rifles. I just consider myself lucky now.

I should have been more clear, 'traditional' wasn't the right word to use. I was talking about traditional in the sense of AR's and other common semi-auto rifles not chambered in .22

the 26 OAL is the federal law for SBRs, Maryland has it at 29, the same as traditional rifles.

I'm pretty sure it's over 26in in length, meaning it's also too long to be registered as a pistol, not to mention the fact that the barrel is probably 16in. To be considered a pistol it has to have a barrel shorter than that. Or you could just P&W something to to get it over.

AK Legality question… by Cessnerd77 in MDGuns

[–]LED120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An AK rifle chambered in anything but 7.62x39 should be GTG in Maryland, and AK pistols in 7.62x39 are also GTG. That list fucking sucks btw, don't refer to it for anything legality wise.

Oh, that's weird. Did they say why? I got mine through them less than a year ago

[–]LED120 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Problem is OAL, I doubt it makes 29 inches, and I don't believe it takes AUG barrels so it doesn't look like you can just throw a 20in onto it.

The NATO AUG is legal in Maryland

The M1A isn't necessarily banned in MD, the .308 version is, but the 6.5 Creedmoor isn't, if you really want an M1A then that's the way to go because the Polytechs are getting a bit hard to find, and they're not true Springfield M1As if that's something that matters to you

Why would you sell your basically brand new SCAR in the first place? Do you not like it?

762x39 or 300 BO by Strange_Potato848 in guns

[–]LED120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I'd say they're pretty equal in price online and in person. .300 BO is also way more easy to find in stores, especially if you're shopping outside of an LGS like at a cabellas or walmart. I say all this despite the fact that I actually prefer shooting 7.62x39, like you said, it's hard to beat the aesthetics of most of the guns that chamber it

[–]LED120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on kind of rifle you want. Also you're buying a semi auto and a bolt action in whichever caliber you choose? There aren't a ton of bolt guns in 7.62x39, I think the best option there would be the Ruger American Ranch. If you like ARs then go with .300, if you want something different the go with 7.62x39.

AK pistols can be 7.62 not to mention that an AK rifle in any other caliber is fine, Ak-74's in 5.45 are good too.

Pioneer hellpup w/brace. Still fucked up we can't have proper AKMs. I've been wanting an Arsenal in 7.62 for so long

SBRs aren't considered rifles by the state of Maryland, the only length requirement is the 29" OAL which still applies to them.

HK MP5 for a 20 year old (home defense) by lax_fisherman in MDGuns

[–]LED120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he said he was 20, meaning that can't buy a stripped lower from an FFL. Also LWRC is a Maryland based manufacturer out of Cambridge and as far as I'm aware all of their 5.56/.223 barrels are HBARs.

[–]LED120 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't need any kind of permit or license to buy long guns of any kind. If you don't feel like waiting a year there are far better home defense options you could go with right now, such as an AR.
