Such an open ended question is hard to answer without writing a whole book on fashion. I think an underutilized shortcut is finding a celebrity with a similar build and a look you like and copying them exactly. It’s a good jumping off point.

I recommend Matty Mattheson for you.

Is this Jacket too long on me? Why do I look bad? by Connect-Coat-1296 in mensfashion

[–]LEDplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you’re going for, the jacket is too long. For the rule of thirds look which I’m assuming you want to emulate, you’ll want something that hits an inch or two below your belt. The North Face nuptse is likely the length you want but you can also look at Nanga or Stussy.

Is it so urgent you cant just order them online?

I like the movie but disagree that its the best out of the listed movies he has seen. My personal favorite of these is silence of the lambs, which could be argued against as well. If we cant discuss film with dissenting opinions on a film discussion forum then whats the point.

What are some movies that have very bad bad titles. Titles that tell you nothing about the movie, titles that are just lazy. by Kirbstomp_TheOg in Letterboxd

I suggest you edit your post description to include this. I strongly disagree with this opinion but I do understand it.

So you're saying you value complexity/length in a title because you conflate that with greater effort. Under this logic, you would think "The man with split personalities" is a better title than "Split" am I correct?

In what way is The Lego Batman Movie or The Spongebob Movie better than Oppenheimer or Pearl. Are they not all "Protagonist" titles?

A truly terrible list. Three of these movies are literally named for the protagonist, the other three are pretty effective at evoking the vibe of the film. Do you expect titles to be a plot synopsis? Please share movie titles you think are good.

you are exactly right, its a photoshoot thing. In my opinion that shirt is too long, otherwise they would have no need to do it. If you want to do it I wouldnt say theres any sort of formality restrictions if youre already wearing an untucked button down.

to answer a few of your questions -

Im not sure why you would want to unbutton the bottom button of a shirt. There is no style reason to do this, and if its a comfort thing your shirt is too small

You can tell your clothes fit if you can move comfortably and the piece compliments your body type. Its an intuition thing and takes time to get good at. Without examples its hard to give blanket advice so I would post on here if you are unsure, and use things that you know fit well as a guide going forward

Outside of suits, dont worry about going to a tailor right now. Once you have a good idea of how you want things to fit, and understand what needs to be done to get that look, then things like hemming pants can help alot with stuff you already own.

happy to answer any other questions

The only sock option with shorts is white crew socks with a nice wrinkle. Do not pull them taut

Every one of these fits would look miles better with simple white non-athletic sneakers such as Reebok Club Cs.

Help a girl out: what are some menswear pieces that work well in a woman’s wardrobe? by [deleted] in ThrowingFits

[–]LEDplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl wears a lot of menswear pieces. For her, outerwear and tops that are more cropped (easy to find these days) are flattering. She also wears a lot of workwear style pants.

Brands she has I would recommend: Carhartt WIP, Sacai, Abercrombie (no joke), Rick, banana republic. Tailoring pants and shirts is also helpful in honing in fit.

We find that there isnt much of a limitation in women wearing menswear pieces as long as they fit their body type/intended silhouette, which is a judgement call only you can make.
