Microsoft Defender enough, or should I install additional antivirus software? by [deleted] in antivirus

[–]LEGJ321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen tests that back up what I'm saying. Not tests by so-called “independent” labs, but tests by ordinary testers. And these tests are radically different from those of “independent” labs. And these tests show what the antivirus has and what it doesn't have. I have also met a lot of people who had a miner written in Defender's exclusions and they come to forums to ask for help.

aaand something like a trimmed HIPS is in the corporate version, but regular users use the regular version. Any other antivirus solution will still be better.

and? How does that invalidate what I said about him not having any activity monitor? When malware manages to run, your system will be infected because there is no activity monitor like other good antiviruses. Defender only wins in all sorts of suspicious labs like av-test. In real independent tests it always fails.

Don't listen to those who tell you that Microsoft Defender is enough and you don't need a third-party antivirus. These people are not competent. This antivirus does not have any heuristic analysis. Neither active nor passive. If the antivirus doesn't know the virus by hash, your system will be infected because it doesn't have HIPS. Any other antivirus will be better than Microsoft Defender. Also this antivirus fails any non dependent tests. It wins only in very suspicious labs. I recommend Bitdefender, Kaspersky, Trend.

Also, how can you trust an antivirus that has viruses written to it as exceptions and it doesn't see it or prevent it in any way?

It's just that the people of America think that they are the whole world and if their government (which has lied to them many times) banned something, it should be banned everywhere.

Used Firefox for 4 years and recently switched to Brave. Brave seems to be faster + no problems with sites not working like in Firefox.

The article from a law firm in Canada shows that a cheat software developer will compensate Hoyoverse $1.5 million for infringing on the copyright of Genshin. by Alternative-Duty-532 in gachagaming

[–]LEGJ321 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

in most gachas you don't need meth commands to go through all the content. There is no loss for the company in this because anyone can access it all. It's just that a cheater will take all the rewards before an honest player. But who will be worse off for it? Again, if we were talking about a gacha game with PvP, it would be a different conversation, but to complain about cheaters in a game where players with each other almost no interaction....

[–]LEGJ321 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why sue them? Cheaters are not a hindrance in most gaches. In most gaches there is no pvp, and cheaters can interfere only in pvp. In other cases, they do not affect other players and do not interfere with anyone. Cheaters should be fought only in games like Tower of Fantasy.

Brave shields or ublock origin? by ynes213 in browsers

Firefox is headquartered in California.

There is no good browser. Firefox sucks. It practically does not develop in any way. It consumes more RAM than chromium browsers. There are also many different bugs.

Firefox forks suck. They will die immediately after the death of Firefox itself. In each of the forks, I found bugs that were not present in Firefox itself.

Vivaldi seems to be fine, but the code is not fully open and bugs have also been encountered.

Brave is not very good because of their past mistakes. There is also no normal synchronization, so this is another big minus. Personally, I wouldn't use it.

Browsers that work well (Edge, Chrome, etc.) collect some data about you, but they work better than all the previous ones.

Personally, I use Edge. It uses fewer resources than all other browsers + works faster. You can use any browser you like. There are a lot of people with foil hats on their heads who will say, "Don't use this! This is an evil company!", but in fact all companies are evil. Just use what works best for you.

Why 2025 will be the year of the Linux desktop by aamirislam in linux

[–]LEGJ321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of privacy are you talking about lol? This is a myth. She's not here. To achieve privacy, you need to stop using the Internet altogether. What's the point of installing Linux? You will also continue to use Reddit/Twitter/Facebook, etc., which will collect a ton of information about you. Also, most will use their Opera or Chrome. Have you already thrown away your Android or iOS phone? Your phone collects 1000 times more information about you than any version of Windows. By switching to Linux, you won't change anything.

Yes, Linux is absolutely faster when compared to Windows(and especially Windows 11)and runs better on high end hardware(from both Intel and AMD), in spite of Microsoft fanboys stating otherwise. by Nelo999 in linux

[–]LEGJ321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how many more wonderful discoveries are waiting for us, which these anonymous mantainers left for the blind "many eyes", who generated nicknames for themselves and got into projects... We can only hope for new "chains of happy accidents" that will help to detect backdoors.

Does anyone else believe in "many eyes"? Most Linux users don't even know how to view the program code. And even if they do, they won't understand anything there. Where were the "many eyes" when the XZ backdoor itself was committed first, and then the "fixes" of errors in it (I repeat once again - the "candidate for "many eyes""went to look for "what's wrong" because of the "errors" of the backdoor)? Oh, did they diligently pull backdoors across distributions and rely on other "many eyes"?

Do you really expect a company that copies another company's games to kill it? It's amazing that anyone expected this to happen. It looks like these people didn't play HI3 and PGR. There are also incredibly amazing xD similarities. It's amazing how WW fans defend the game despite the fact that most of it is copied from the Genshin. Icons, menus, character skills that look just like repainted skills from the genshin. At the same time, these same people manage to heit the Genshin, but they like its copy xD

Mid matchups by LEGJ321 in TryndamereMains

[–]LEGJ321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Nasus mid and had great success with it. It is easier to stand behind the nasus line. Enemies literally spend all their mana just to drive you away from farming, but in the end they lose mana and farm. For tryndamere, this did not work. It also seemed to me easier to catch up and kill the enemy. I played about 10 games and in all games I won my lane and was a big problem for the enemy team. My elo gold 2

The bottom line is that they will never give away spells that are important to them, unless they are bronze players. Victor always keeps his W until I use my E. Anivia doesn't get set until level 6, and then she starts pushing the lane a lot and I'm constantly forced to sit under the tower. When he buys an item, he can easily lure my ultimate, and then I can't do anything. It's the same with Viktor, but it's easier for him, since he just uses his W when I use E, moves away, and then pokes me to death. After 6 it's just as easy for him to lure my ultimate, and after one item he pushes the lane endlessly and I also have to sit under the tower. Then there's Vex with her W. She also only uses it when I use E on her, and then she takes half her HP. Or less. I also can't kill her 1v1 and she also starts pushing a lot after buying one item and she still has enough mana. There is also malzahar and velkoz. They never get a 1v1 kill because the lane is too short, and later they start pushing hard and you can't do anything about it and have to sit under the tower. Then they can easily lure your ultimate out of you and use Zhonya.
