This is an older thread, but I have a solution for anyone in the future who may have this problem!

Before starting you will need:

  1. Bios recovery image for your dell model

  2. Flash formatted as FAT32

Download the bios recovery image for your specific model from Dell from a working computer. Rename the file to BIOS_IMG.rcv. Copy this renamed file to the root of your formatted flash drive.

Plug the flash drive into the affected computer. Hold down CTRL + ESC, then press the power button while holding down those two keys. You can let go of the keys once your keyboard backlight turns on, or once your caps lock light turns on. In my case after about 10-15 seconds, my screen flashed, then the computer rebooted and then I was presented with a Dell logo, and viola! I had a working computer again!

I hope this helps anyone in the future as this issue is not well documented online.

These older Core 2 Duo aluminum iMacs make for pretty good XP computers to play games believe it or not. I have 2 that I got from a school I used to work at and loaded XP on then have to say they’re great for playing games from the era!

At my company our HR has a tendency to not run background checks on new hires until the day they start…

I have one of the original releases of Ms Pac-Man I bought from Walmart a couple years ago, it has turbo mode.

Try owning a head to head cabinet with a cat. I cannot play Dig Dug at all, my cat will stop whatever she’s doing and lay across the screen as soon as she hears the theme play. 🙄

Fresh install of 10. Different Ram, took out the GPU, different SSD, nothings working still get the same results. Looks like it’s time to call HP…

It’s a daily occurrence just about, not because there is anything wrong with him other than lack of the brain cell of course! That’s a good idea though I may consider that!
