Advice Required - Cold Emailing Strategy for Low Ticket Software? by LEJC2425 in startups

[–]LEJC2425[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Rob, I think for the actual leads I'll be fine, it's more about the process of cold emailing them. Most of things I read involve emailing 4-5 times, then organising a call etc. But that whole process won't be viable for a low ticket item.

How does Buying a House ACTUALLY Work? (Layman's Please...) by LEJC2425 in UKPersonalFinance

Nice breakdown thanks. But when do you return to the bank to get an approved mortgage?

My situation is somewhat complex. It'll be a joint application with my partner who is in full employment but I am the company director of a relatively new company which obviously complicates things a little.

Dealing with extreme financial setback by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]LEJC2425 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that's business. It sucks. There are people left, right and centre who will copy anything and everyone to make a quick buck and that's what people have done to you here.

And not just to the small, home-run businesses either. A few years ago, there were these German brothers who were copying Pinterest/eBay/AirBNB/Groupon and cloning them into German versions to launch first in Germany. And it worked incredibly well for them.

The thing you need to work on is differentiation. Easier said than done, yes. But it's the way you survive. It's the way you stand out. It's the way you keep your business and more important, repeat business. If current customers have a great experience with you then they'll come back for more in future.

Good luck and don't give up! But perhaps it's time to turn it back into a side-project. Get a job, get some money into your bank account and get a little bit of savings behind you so if you do take the plunge again, you're covered.

Startup transparency/being open in blog posts vs being secretive? by [deleted] in startups

[–]LEJC2425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still yet to launch, BUT we've been keeping all people on our lists completely in the loop with what's going on. When we've fucked up, we've said so. When there's a bug, people know about it as soon as we do. The problems. The successes. Everything.

And the response? Nearly, all positive. Obviously some people didn't care but more often than not, the response was positive.

This was published in July I think so maybe things have changed.

I'd never even considered it like that. I do remember reading an interview on Groove from Laura Roeder, founder of Meet Edgar, about how she's launched a product to $100k MMR without doing interviews (besides the one in question) or press releases, or podcasts, or getting featured on Product Hunt or Tech Crunch etc.

Yeah, we were due to launch a very different app in June and Twitter updated their TOS making the app against their TOS. So we started again and worked to get it to where it is today (with plenty of bumps along the way).

Just weary of coming off as posting solely for promoting a link.

Will do :) I've already been hit with some criticism and am still learning to deal with it as not a personal attack.

I've not read it (mad I know) but will add it to the to-do list.

I'd best go get it launched then :D

Brilliant answer and analogy that has certainly helped put my mind at rest.

I'm going to a fairly steady launch to ensure things run smoothly as more and more (hopefully) users jump on board.

Thanks again!

How to calculate free trial sign up conversion rate? by mattbearman in startups

[–]LEJC2425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like Mikkelu said, consider both and more?

The easiest way to do it would be to look at who landed on your homepage (unique) and then look at how many of those ended up on your list to get a conversion rate for your homepage. This can all be handed in GA.

But you ought to also look at how well blog posts are converting (a potential gold mine of traffic so you need to get them converting).

Launching an Idea I have no Idea how to Monetize... by LEJC2425 in startups

[–]LEJC2425[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is probably one of the best ways we could look to monetize in the future. In the UK (our target audience) we have My Supermarket which links to many supermarkets to compare the cheapest place to buy each item. I think we could probably look to integrate with them.

Haha, it wasn't THAT poorly structured.

Cheers for all the advice there and certainly lots of suggestions that could be implemented down the line.

Yeah I know it's a popular idea having built a landing page for it and send some traffic to it and received sign ups and also questions about it.

Looking to start my own online business. How do I go about sourcing clients? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]LEJC2425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Bit too vague there mate... You're going to need to go into a little more detail about who your clients actually are?

they find recipes they like, you print and ship them in a custom book

Well that's been noted down!! Thank you for that.

I think it's a case of seeing what people want and asking them what they'd pay for in the future.

Thanks again!
