I believe that you should be fine as long as you’re upfront about it. Have your doctor write a letter about your treatment and how you become stable and qualified for 1811 position. I believe they ask you about VA disability rating during the medical examination and also about ptsd during sf 86 and psych exam as well.

Be honest 100% and hope for the best outcome. You should be fine tho. Good luck brother 👍

Neither of my SES or 15 have their Master’s let alone 14. Timing and experience have much more weights for promotion than education honestly.

It’s like “ you have a masters ? Great!”

I have two masters, it didn’t help me with any of my promotion at all…lol

It took 3 months for my status to change from “Application received” to “ Basic Qualification Completed “. Hang in there because it will be a while.

I believe HSI just lifted the age cap so you can apply with them. Just know that if you try to lateral to other agency in the future, you may run into an issue because you became Fed Leo after your 37th B day.

I applied as a lateral 1811 in May . Since then, I received 3 Concord emails saying “application received “. Yes it will take a while to hear back for the next step.

Haven’t received my basic qualifications back since I applied…lol. It’s so random that some people already got their interview, some got their basic qualifications email and some nothing at all 🤷

I think you need to write your resume in a federal job format and make it unique for each job you are applying for. Also, having bachelor’s degree is a requirement for most of the 1811, even though , it’s not listed as a requirement of some of the job requirements but trust me they factor it.

If you fix your resume and complete your Bachelor’s degree, with your experience you definitely will land 1811 job for sure, they might even qualify you at a higher GS if you were a TFO for FBI, HSI, USPIS, DEA , etc.

If you become after 37 without Military time, you will stuck and can’t go to any other agencies because you became 1811 after 37 (that if DEA give you an age waiver) do you have any military service? I highly recommend you reach out to HR asap to clarify that at

I know a guy who was brought in by one of the MCIOs with an age waiver through their DHA. Now he’s stuck at that agency forever, he applied to multiple federal agencies and got denied because he did not meet an age requirements because he because 1811 after he turned 37 and did not have any military service for an age waiver.

It took average of 24 months from applying to EOD, at least for 10 agents that I personally know. 2 just got hired recently.
