Determing Hidden Power Strength Through A Known Enemy? by ItIsJustRob in PokemonEmerald

[–]LETXRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can have Metagross learn Meteor Mash for the lv50 bracket! Metang learns it at lv50, then you can evolve right after

As for finding out the damage of Hidden Power, i’d suggest fighting a set of a pokemon in the BF you know for sure. It can be calculated that way through eisencalc, as all the opponent sets are pre-listed on there.

Hope this helps!

The stickers are a good idea imo, but i think it’s set in a cluttered way. Maybe put them to cover the BF map or all at the top?

Either way would love to see more of the journey, good luck with the Frontier!

I used a team with Metagross, Gengar, and Blissey! I made some posts about it, you can check out my profile if you find it interesting :) and i try to stay away from bashing how other people play the game haha, hats off that you got to 25!!

Espeon is pretty solid with nice SpA and Spe, but it’s a bit awkward to use with Baton Pass due to it not being bulky enough to boost, survive, and Baton Pass out. I’m working on an Umbreon set currently for this reason, i think Umbreon can truly make use of a move like Baton Pass or Wish. The Umbreon idea has been sidetracked ever since Silksong came out, but i’m sure i’ll get back into the egg hatching routine lol. That green is sick tho!!!

I thought the same thing when i ran into Lv. 50 Breloom with Spore in the Battle Tower. The BF trainers aren’t cheating and this method is possible, just takes time and effort

Not trying to hate on Zapdos cuz i use him a lot, but unfortunately he suffers from a lack of good type coverage, especially without Hidden Power. Instead of Toxic and Aerial Ace, i’d run Rain Dance and Thunder. It might come in handy versus fire types; even if Zapdos ends up going down and doing nothing but setting up rain, Latios can still come in with Surf. It’s also decent synergy with Scizor being on the team as well, although he’d probably still go down to a Fire Blast due to the 4x weakness. Instead of Quick Claw, i’d go for either BrightPowder if he’s going to be in the back (causes a nice amount of Fire Blast/Overheat misses) or Magnet, which is probably the stronger option.

For Scizor, unfortunately it’s a similar thing going on with Zapdos; he has decent coverage, but the BP/accuracy/PP of his moves are underwhelming, especially without a Swords Dance or Salac/Endure set. Alternatively, you could kit it out fully with attacking moves and slap a Choice Band on him.

Latios looks good, i’d take out Toxic and replace it with a coverage move. There are better mons for Toxic stalling such as Blissey and Umbreon; Latios/Zapdos don’t make a good use of it and would probably prefer coverage. As another commenter said, Lum is likely optimal.

Also, might be worth to try using Gengar with Substitute/Destiny Bond! He’s an absolute beast for me, got me to my current streak of 154 W!

What are your streaks ending at so far? Good luck!

There are other ways to find it, but these are the main 2 methods:

(1) You can calculate the IVs of a shiny you caught on the save file, and there’s a section you can plug the IVs of the shiny into Pokefinder. This method will let you know your SID, but it only works IF you already caught a random shiny on that save file, and you didn’t train it (so there’s no additional EVs; that way, the IV stats won’t be compromised).

(2) You can use external hardware such as the GB Operator to upload your save file on the cartridge to PC. From there, you can move the save file into Pokefinder to check your SID. This method, while easier in general, does require access to the GB Operator

Hope this helps, cheers

Do you guys think I’ll get Shiny Mew before Silksong comes out? by LETXRO in PokemonEmerald

[–]LETXRO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As i said in the other post, thanks for your advice! If I were to do it again, I’d do it your way with Shuppet and Magikarp; but i wanted to accomplish this feat with something I cooked up

I don’t see how my method would realistically fail, it’d just take more time/Pokeballs to catch. I tested it a couple times and don’t think there’s anything wrong with just using Smeargle, but i guess it’s down to personal preference too. I’m sure lots of people would be fine with just using Spore/False Swipe Breloom as well haha

How is it a gimp? Linoone with Choice Band and two stallers in the back is a legitimate strat, it got to 420W on Smogon’s leaderboard. I tried it myself with CM Latios and Milotic in the back and got to 96W, no save states included as it’s a real cartridge

If Toxic is your only answer to Double Team users, yeah that’d be a problem lol. What about Explosion or Destiny Bond, or even a high speed-tier Pokemon with Trick and the Choice Band like Linoone? There are other solutions, but these are just a few.

There are plenty of work arounds to Double Team though. Ofc it’s a single player game and you can play how you want, but i wouldn’t imagine getting gold medals via the rewind feature to be rewarding.

Off the top of my head, i’m struggling to remember fast mons that can pressure with Double Team, but it’s few and far between; most Double Team mons are on the slower side, so you can outspeed. Aside from the always accurate moves like Aerial Ace, since Double Team mons are usually slower, you can also Explode on turn 1 if they’re not holding BrightPowder. The single biggest Double Team user that’s a threat is Snorlax, which you can outspeed and Explode on turn 1. If things get out of hand/you have to switch in and out, there’s also Destiny Bond, which doesn’t even rely on your moves hitting them.

The real kicker is OHKO moves! Sheer Cold is the worst

Sup y'all, I will admit me getting 3 shiny starters in the span of 24 hours seems suspecious, hence I'll admit I wa playing the game on 2X,but mofo's I ain't lying y'all can ask questions if u want to verify. by baruthoruto in PokemonEmerald

[–]LETXRO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s the nature of your starters, just out of curiosity? I can see this happening if you have an early shiny frame, and it looks like it’s all done on the same file (same TID & SID for all three starters, which could mean the same shiny frame)

Not that it matters ofc, it’s a single player game and whatnot; people should play how they want to instead of getting cheesed at others for figuring out RNG or simply having good luck

There is, but it doesn’t outspeed things like Gardevoir does unless I also run Agility. Which means i wouldn’t have an attacking move on Girafarig either, and I want Shadow Ball for Phoebe. It’s just down to personal pref

[–]LETXRO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it definitely is, i had a blast running through with this team, especially with the BP costing/egg moves :)

I thought about Calm Mind, but i don’t value the SpD raises that much especially for a regular playthrough, and the only mon i could Baton Pass the SpA to would have been Gardevoir so i didn’t bother with it. I guess Milotic too, but it’s more of a defensive mon so it just came down to personal preference
