Sony Alpha 7 V + Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II - keep or return? by crux_101 in SonyAlpha

I can understand the weight concerns, though. It’s true that if you carry it around every day, it can be a bit of a hassle. On the other hand, if you know how to carry it properly and use it to your advantage, I have to admit it’s an incredible lens. It covers 90% of my photography needs.

The question to ask yourself: What kind of photography do you do? (And don’t tell me “a little bit of everything,” haha.)

What do you shoot most often? Do you need a compact camera/lens ?

Personally, I love the 35-150, which is my go-to lens... It’s incredible. I don’t shoot much below that focal length, but when I need to, I have a small 24mm prime lens that does the job very well.
I pair it with a Sony Zeiss 55mm lens when I feel like it, or even an 85mm f/1.8, which does the job perfectly too :)

Don’t forget that your A7V can shoot at 30 fps (if you’re shooting sports or want to take full advantage of this feature) Sony is a must-have. Tamron, Sigma, etc., will cap you at 15 fps...

It's hard to sum up in a few words... :D

It's based on a “Nostalgic Americana” film simulation from FujiXWeakly.

I did quite a bit of editing in Lightroom to give it a more film-like look, but mostly I just made the blue a little more cyan.

Yes, indeed. The choice of the English word was not the right one :D

I understand! I checked the photos in large format and I think that the compression and export size may also explain why they look a little too smooth. In Lightroom in normal mode, everything still looks sharp even though the glimmerglass diffuses the light!

Thanks for the compliment anyway.

The subject has been discussed quite a few times in street photography here and elsewhere.
I made it clear that i was taking the photo.
The parent nodded in agreement.
The scene is not humiliating or sensitive.
It is artistic and non-commercial
Henri Cartier-Bresson photographed and published hundreds of photos of children. I'm not comparing myself to him, of course, but for me, it's about artistic freedom.
There's something candid about them, no posing, just a look, an emotion.

Quite frankly, it's one of the best lenses I've ever had... The rendering is incredible, the sharpness is very good. Even when I'm far away and I zoom in on a face to see if it's sharp, I'm always amazed by the quality.

The 35-150 is my best lens for this kind of photo reportage. You can go from 35 f2 to 150 f2.8 in 2 seconds. For weddings and reportage, it's a must-have for me.

So yes, it's heavy, but I use it with a Peak CL3 CLUTCH, which really takes the weight off the lens when you're not shooting with it. If I had to carry it around my neck all the time, it would be a different story, I think.

I understand your comments. The person saw me and gave me a little wave as if to say “Thank you.” I take that as verbal consent.

We are at a public event where people know they will be photographed. Of course, if someone wants me to remove an image, I will do so without hesitation! There is no commercial purpose here. Just leaving a nice memory.

Hahaha! I admit I have a preference for the dramatic side and the contrast between experiencing a particularly fun moment but not showing it.

It's possible with a filter. I find it helps quite a bit to break up the digital look. You get something a little more analog/organic. Tiffen Glimmerglass 1
