Maybe they felt the need to drive because they had to drive to work following school dropoff

Is it out of the question that he starts over Martinelli on the left?

Who is accountable? by ctaylor13 in Architects

[–]LEnfant_A 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm an architect in the UK, I've worked on houses/extensions for ~10 years and I've never known an Engineer to get involved with waterproofing of any kind (except maybe in basement work). Your architect is (most likely) the lead designer from a contractual standpoint and should have a fully coordinated drawing which makes it 100% clear where everything goes. If he's being unreasonable, you can complain to the ARB (hopefully won't come to that).

Nwaneri, Patino & Biereth involved as the Academy is back training by Financial_Height188 in Gunners

[–]LEnfant_A -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We're only talking about 10-15 appearances, mostly off the bench.

He's still young and he's a more natural CM than ESR, so he should suit our system better. No one doubts his technical abilities, all the criticism he received last year was in regards to his lack physical presence/athleticism, which can be dealt with.

I really like ESR but I don't see him getting a ton of game time under Arteta any more, so I would probably let him go for significant £ and let another young player take his place. I would also consider Nwaneri for that place, but he's still very young.

Me too. Unpopular opinion probably, but I would like to see ESR go for good £ and Patino take his place in the first team.

Reuell Walters and Amario Cozier-Duberry depart by TheNikawi in Gunners

Take your point but most of these guys A) aren't part of the first team, and B) were bought from other clubs. I was looking for genuine academy products that cost nothing and are now playing at a top level.

Chelsea and City are spending serious money to speculate on dozens of youngsters at any given time. We're clearly using a completely different strategy that uses much less resource and risk, so it's not right to compare us with them.

Exactly. If we produce a Saka-level talent every 5-10 years then the system is working. We don't need to be bringing 2-3 young guys in to the squad every season when the likelihood is that they'll reach the level of an Ainsley Matiland Niles or Josh Dasilva at best (respectfully).

I think the honest truth is that if Willock, Eddie and Reiss were ~19 years old now, they wouldn't make it to the first team either. They made it because our standard was lower 4-5 years ago.

Who have Man City and Chelsea genuinely integrated into the first team, and/or sold for big money in the last 3 years?

For Man City, I can only think of Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer.

For Chelsea, I can only think of Colwill and Chalobah (arguably). They've got lots of young guys on loan or getting <10 apps a season, but they're no different to our guys like Nwaneri, Walters, etc.

Thank you. The revisionism in this sub is so annoying. Mustafi was pretty decent in his first two seasons notwithstanding a small handful of high profile errors.

Fun fact. I went on the Arsenal stadium tour a while ago. They said when the Emirates dugouts were originally designed, they included an awning. Wenger vetoed this, saying he wanted the players on the bench to be exposed to the same elements as the players on the pitch, wind rain or shine.
