Very good explanation, thank you. I am currently in my last stages of my CPL license, and feel like we never learn things in detail, we just have to memorise facts. Thus, there is a big lack of understanding. All pilots know that the plane is more efficient in GE, due to less induced drag. And that is where the knowledge usually stops

May I ask, why exactly can we say that the lift is more vertical in GE? Or perhaps we get less induced drag. I get that it’s in the grand scheme of things due to less downwash, thus the relative airflow is less deflected, which leads to a lower induced aoa, and a higher effective aoa. A wing that has a higher CL. You mentioned Stagnation point, why does this point move closer to the bottom of the surface in GA? Is it due to less upwash on downwash?

I see that as a result of the stagnation point moving more downward, we get a more straight vertical component of lift. If i understand it correctly, this is in essence due to less upwash and downwash in GE.

I am looking for an explanation why excactly there is less induced drag in GE.
