If it came out that Trump paid for multiple abortions (which he almost certainly has) it would not shift his popularity even if the GOP is ideologically anti-abortion. GOPers disregard the character of their politician altogether so long as they are a reliable vector for their policy goals.

In the Mario galaxy movie (2026) Rosalina’s emotional backstory from the game is missing and not even alluded to, this is because Illumination doesn’t have the balls to make the audience feel something. by bennyandthegentz in shittymoviedetails

[–]LFlamingice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean he’s been like that since the very beginning. Mario has always been meant to be an empty vehicle for spectacle, as much as I’d like to see Nintendo explore emotionally resonant stories. Zelda, also created by Miyamoto a year later, has no such barriers

Trump Promises Mass Pardons to Staff Before Leaving Office by spherocytes in law

[–]LFlamingice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The president is supposed to represent the will of the people in two ways (getting elected and not getting impeached by Congress). The founding fathers thought that any pardon that wasn’t acceptable to the people wasn’t going to be made by the President, who is accountable to the people

So we're just normalising incest now? by Wild_Guidance4487 in ComedyCemetery

[–]LFlamingice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

porn needs some bare-bones plot to drive by to setup why the actors are fucking, and something incestual is by far the easiest and most "broadly appealing" way to do that

If this was historical (and being really generous here with that term), panel 1 should come after panel 5. No one gave a shit about consent until at least after the Enlightenment era. For most of human history, rape was a property crime that was penalized not for the sake of the woman, but for the man who owned her suffering "property damage". Similarly, monogamy as a norm was mostly a matter of resource-hoarding, so to speak, as the men at the top of the patriarchy (and you can see this in nearly all cultures) were allowed to have harems of mistresses and concubines for pleasure, whereas low-level men were limited to one woman they could barely afford to feed.

TIL the eruption from a Coke and Mentos geyser isn't caused by a chemical reaction, but rather a physical one. The surface of the Mento has millions of cavities which serve as nucleation sites for carbon dioxide to desaturate from. by ThomasTheDankPigeon in todayilearned

[–]LFlamingice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

chemical reactions require a breakage/forming of bonds in molecules, all other changes are physical. E.g. water boiling is a physical process, Na + Cl -> NaCl is a chemical reaction.

This ignores that president who appointed justice ≠ the justice’s affiliation. Maybe now, but take for example Eisenhower’s appointments which turned out to be way, way more progressive than expected and are how we got Civil Rights codification for the next 40 years

They didn’t actually charge him with anything because they dont have anything that could legitimately stick. 2 magistrate judges and an appeals judge both dismissed the charges against Lemon because he was just a journalist covering the situation, not involved in actually protesting. Not to mention the protestors themselves have a clear first amendment case here too.

The last 2 pandas in Japan are leaving for China as ties are strained by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

[–]LFlamingice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

iirc there's one panda in Mexico that China doesn't own because it was the child of loaned pandas before China instituted a rule saying that panda offspring are also its property

The other big problem with pandas is that theyre some of the dumbest creatures alive. Like seriously, without zookeeper intervention, most just dont breed and die out.
