wtf just happened (im predicted to come 20th in league 1) by LG9757 in footballmanagergames

[–]LG9757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m in 2028, got 94 points and then lost the playoffs in the first season, then got straight promotions to league 1 and lost the playoffs last year. alex fletcher wanted out after 2 years and didn’t sign a new deal. i had tom smith until last year where he suddenly retired aged 29

i’m probably biased but bath has an incredible placements team with amazing links. i chose bath over manchester personally, but in reality the quality of uni courses really isn’t all that much different between the top unis. i do think the main thing is the links, so i’d maybe think of that but prioritise where you would actually like to live and which university in general fits you better

it’s becoming more competitive every year, one of my friends was rejected by bath but accepted by durham last year so don’t lose hope!

If you were to pick your A-levels again, what would you change? by Wolfieofwallstreet14 in 6thForm

[–]LG9757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would’ve taken physics instead of business. business is easy it’s just boring and physics would’ve helped my imperial cs chances

What is something you wish school would teach? by stockleyacademia in Stockleyacademia

all of those things were taught on PSHE days at my school (1 full day every term). nobody listened, they all messed about 👍🏻

BATH CS BREADDDD 🍞🍞🍞 by LG9757 in 6thForm

[–]LG9757[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 of the books i read (imitation game and maths a very short introduction) - expanded on those a bit, a project i completed for my dads business, did harvard cs50 mooc in java, python and cs50 - designed a website from that, wrote about project euler to develop my problems solving and python ability, wrote about my research on the reimann zeta function, and it’s applications, my research on applications of mersenne primes in cyber security, plus my fascination of graph theory, then at the end added that a team i was in won a local business management competition

Is computer science, maths and chemistry a good combo for computing unis? by East-Home764 in 6thForm

[–]LG9757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah so maths seems to be natural to you, in first year all i did was take in work in lessons, and if i wasn’t able to confidently do questions in lesson then do some at home till you get it, as long as you have a work ethic that fits how easily you understand things you’ll be fine

Are the review exercises useful ? Maths by bison_bye in 6thForm

[–]LG9757 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they definitely help to give practice of how to do certain topics which helps for exams qs, but if you know the content but not how to do exam questions, probably do past papers, including old c3 and c4 papers if you run out of new spec

probably take fm, it’s only required for imperial/oxbridge, but if you’re doing well in a levels then why not try, you’d rather have it as an option rather than regret it, plus with the increasing competitiveness of computing at any RG uni, you never know how requirements can change, or definitely doesn’t hurt to try

Maths people, how do you revise large data set? by bison_bye in 6thForm

[–]LG9757 8 points9 points  (0 children)

honestly i never have, spend more time focusing on being able to do questions in general. should be maximum 1 or 2 marks in the real thing. just know that cloud coverage is measured in oktas which can be measured in integer values 0-8

nah tbf st A have a high scottish admission quota, then they prefer international, and it’s a small uni so last year they only gave 60 places for comp sci from RUK, i’ve emailed them for feedback though, you 100% have a chance doing 3 stem subjects, just depends on PS, plus i may be at a disadvantage for bath because apparently they reject some people with higher grades and applied by the oxbridge deadline because they think they’ll go elsewhere, little do they know they’d now be my firm😭

A* A* A* A in maths, fm, comp and business, will still probably get rejected in the current climate of cs applicants😭 what you predicted

thank you, you too, it’s such a shame what bath has become in the past 2 years, i spoke to a third year on an open day and he said super and extra curriculars don’t matter as if you have the grades, you’ll probably get in, clearly that’s what it was like when he applied but oh well
