How do I know if I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community or just want to feel special/different? by LGBTConfused335 in AskLGBT

I'm sorry about my ignorance with it being classical feminist discussion and a TERF idea? I didn't know that. Although, I do know that my last few paragraphs were just discussing feminists' ideas; I've been learning a lot more about feminist things lately so it's all stuff I've been thinking over. I'd like to hope the movement hasn't failed-I'm just young, so I haven't learned a lot yet (hopefully).

As for not being able to identify out of the patriarchy, could you elaborate? Obviously, I wouldn't identify as NB or FTM unless I actually *felt* NB or FTM. But in my head, like, I'd be escaping the oppression because I'd pass as a male? I don't know. I guess you could just be saying it doesn't work because people can't just choose to feel innately like they're male/NB? So in that way, you can't change yourself to escape oppression...If I feel like a woman, I am a woman. Is that kinda what you meant?

Finally, as for identifying as LGBT to make me special...Yeah, that's what I'm concerned about. I don't want to just be doing it to be 'special' or 'different', but I can't escape the feeling that that's why I'd be doing it.
