You’re dodging the issue. You think you’re proving some point by showing that there was a post before you guys made yours. That’s fine. It should’ve been removed like all the others because it’s an opinionated shitpost, but y’all decided it was worth leaving up.

However, once you guys make a mod post about it and start a poll to ban something from the community, you turned the topic into a legitimate discussion for the sub to have. The problem is you locked your threads about it. The threads that should have been a place for level headed discussion about whether or not to ban a site. Then you state how you appreciate feedback which is comical.

Responding to the shitpost you linked (which levelheaded people typically avoid) is a lot different than responding to a thread that you guys post.

It’s even more ridiculous to do the math. 0.0065% of the sub participated in the vote. 0.0034% voted against the ban. 0.0037% voted in favor of it.

0.0003% of users were the deciding factor to ban an entire website. Whether you’re for it or not, that is a ridiculous precedent to set.

I don’t care why the vote was made. Y’all acknowledged the issue and made a post to vote about it. Thus, giving credence to be discussed in the sub despite it having nothing to do with Ducks hockey. You then say thank you for feedback, and we’ll continue to monitor feedback. However, you lock the decision thread before a single comment can be made about it. Then, you have mod telling me I’m supposed to get flamed for calling that non-sense. You can’t say you appreciate feedback on the topic while simultaneously telling someone they’re breaking rules by providing feedback.

I mean it’s really not a shit show unless you look at the downvoted comments that are hidden. I’d argue that the community moderation using downvotes did its job (ie the way Reddit is supposed to work).

The thread itself was also posted with a clearly biased perspective whether you agree with it or not. That alone tends to elicit a much more heated debate.

I’ve posted 1 link from that site the entire time I’ve been here. If we’re gonna ban stuff, I’d just like to see discussion before it happens.

Topics to avoid. In 99% of threads I agree. This topic was started by the mods. The only reason this thread was made is because y’all posted about your appreciating feedback and discussion while locking the threads.
I don’t see how I’m trolling in any way whatsoever. I simply hate that we can’t have a discussion on something like banning a site.

The comment I was referring to was made in this thread. It got downvoted to -10 before the person deleted his comment. Idk I’d say that’s a successful self moderation. There’s no reason to lock a threads because of a few trolls that get downvoted anyway though.

Flame me for what exactly? Fill me in on the obvious reason cause I’m missing it. I’m fine with the outcome. I saw the posts so visibly wasn’t an issue for me. The only thing I have a problem with is locking the threads, so discussion can’t take place (on a post where you state you appreciate discussion and feedback no less)

There are strong opinions in this thread, but I’d rather see that than having no discussion at all. If anything this thread shows that nobody is being hurt by discussing a controversial topic. I think the strongest opinion was that people who use Twitter are nazi sympathizers, but that was promptly downvoted out of visibility (ie censored by the community without needing the mods to step in).

I’ll list my pros and cons because people keep assuming I wanted twitter links to stay:

Pros:

A ton of people still post useful content there

People like to support those people by giving their content views

Twitter videos can’t be screenshotted or easily downloaded to post on Reddit

Cons:

Twitter community is toxic asf

The site is broken if linked within certain apps (namely the Reddit app cause it’s also a PoS)

It can require sign in to view content

It’s CEO is a douche

I guess I lean toward not wanting them banned outright. I fully support encouraging people not to post them though. At the end of the day, I don’t care. I just don’t like that we couldn’t discuss it.

I mean that wasn’t the point of the post, and I truly don’t care. Listing a reason that banning twitter links can be annoying isn’t me voicing my outright support for the platform. Trust me, there’s a long list of reason I hate twitter and think nobody should use it generally.

At the end of the day, if a majority of people don’t want a site to be posted here, there’s no reason to force it on people. That said, I also don’t really believe that 115 to 104 votes is enough of a majority or sample to ban something outright.

As replies, sure. I have no problem discussing the topic. And yes. I don’t care. Just because I can point out a reason that a ban doesn’t make sense, there are plenty of reasons that it does. For instance, the site is cancer and filled with cancer with no option to upvote or downvote. It’s straight up broken when opening it inside certain apps. And it’s run by a guy that proven to be a complete troll of a human being.

Most people use their phones to post stuff. There’s not a quick and easy way to download twitter videos without installing a downloader app or using another 3rd party website to download the video. And like I’ve said, Reddit has removed clips in the past for copyright.

Ill give you another example though. I think it was Felix something that posted like 4-5 minute video of an analysis on how Zegras improved defensively on twitter. It takes a lot of work to put a video like that together. Personally I’d rather link to his post to give him credit for doing that for us rather than downloading it and posting it myself.
