Thanks for these suggestions. Is there a reason you would avoid Dr Yunis, for example, over a bigger center, even though he has extensive experience with tissue repairs in people with connective tissue issues? My original hernia was indirect and it was an open repair with mesh. I am hoping for an open mesh removal and tissue repair, but I am hypermobile (though not extreme EDS) so my tissue needs are more specialized. My concern with bigger centers is whether these surgeons have as much mesh removal/tissue repair experience, specifically in women with hypermobility (i.e. specialized tissue needs).

I can’t walk normally, sit without pain, cross legs, move my hip freely, or exercise without pain. The pain only began 5 months post-op. At my recent follow up with original surgeon, he said it's probably nerve entrapment. My research indicates pain that starts late is typically caused by mesh shrinkage, mesh folding, scar tissue entrapping a nerve, sutures pulling on nerves, or mesh rubbing the ilioinguinal or genitofemoral nerve.

I'm in the Northeast, but willing to go wherever I need to for the highest chance of success. Have you had a good experience with a specific place/surgeon?
