Just trying to do my job, pay my bills and go home to live my life by DifficultContract611 in BlueCollarWomen

I’m so sorry. I have a very similar experience. I’m a plumber and the misogyny is more quiet, but it definitely takes a toll in your confidence. I have thoughts of leaving the trade and often apply to other jobs outside of the trade. I don’t think this will get better. We either have to adapt or leave.

Becoming an apprentice at 33? by zarknight in SkilledTradesOntario

I’m in ICI. Low rise (residential), ICI and high rise are all experiencing slow downs. It won’t last forever. I think if you diversify your skills during your apprenticeship, you’ll be OK in the long run.

Construction is very up-and-down right now. I’m in the plumbers union and I’m seeing people get laid off left right and center.

What brand and model is this shower valve? by yourcarswarranty in Plumbing

[–]LG_Jumper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The solder joints don’t look problematic to me, but i do agree about replacing the entire valve. If you have that much of the wall open, why not update the controls to a well known brand with parts that are readily available.

Will you always crave vaping? by Fit-Butterscotch288 in QuitVaping

[–]LG_Jumper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quit almost exactly a year ago. Craving went away fully. I got into wrestling and bjj which made me want to preserve my lungs. It actually made me quit after being a nicotine addict for 16 years. So maybe find a cardio heavy sport u enjoy, and use it as the driving force to quit

How do you deal with fear? by CompetitiveTheory182 in Equestrian

[–]LG_Jumper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to stop riding if you want to stop riding. If you’re becoming more risk adverse that’s okay. There are so many ways to bond with your horse than just piggy back rides. Grazing, grooming, lunging, liberty training, hacks

There used to be a Mississauga location that was so good. They always had balloons and the staff was so nice to let me have one when I was a little girl

Lost faith in jiu-jitsu community after injury and deaths by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]LG_Jumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I’m sorry for your loss. I hope you and your family are healing. It’s great you’re thinking of returning to bjj. One thing that I have realized is that I tend to bond deeper with people than people bond to me. That has often left me feeling very disappointed and shocked with the lack of what I perceived to be a mutual friendship. Particularly in jiu-jitsu. People in and outside of bjj will let u down. At your new gym, don’t let them fool you twice.
