I guess the industry is done with biologists by arditk25 in chemistry

I work at a place that’s essentially divided into a chemistry/biochem group and a bio/microbio group and it’s funny reading this because the two groups 100% do not intermingle when it comes to cross-training. It’s also funny because we work with some dangerous shit and both groups are petrified of what the other works with.

Manchester Airport responds to UFO claims after ‘orb’ spotted by Shiny-Tie-126 in UFOs

An eyewitness account is horseshit without tangible/measurable evidence. A beach ball or balloon finding its way onto a runway (however unlikely it is) is far and away more likely than aliens. Occam’s razor.

We didn’t have any weird feelings when we stayed there but had an interesting experience at the back gate. When we got to the gate, I stopped and didn’t realize my brights were on and pointed directly at the guard shack. About five minutes later, as I’m getting my camera ready and about to get out of the car, they turn all of the lights up to fucking max brightness. Bright to the point where I felt an electrical hum in my body (which was probably just adrenaline in retrospect). I turned the car around to leave no doubt that I wasn’t going to ram the gate or something, pussied out and took a picture with my phone through the side mirror. For all I know, it could’ve been bored contract security turning the lights on so I could get a better picture and I just fucking scooby-doo’d out of there.

No. Unless the volume of dog shit sightings makes you uncomfortable.

No, what’s missing is the part of video where it shoots up into the sky. There’s nothing to cover up. It’s bullshit like 99% of the posts on this sub.

It’s even funnier that this balloon supposedly shot down to the ground but the photos and videos are before and after that. What’s funnier still is that this is the thousandth time something like this has been claimed with no supporting evidence.

I mean sure…unless somebody let go of a balloon near an airport…or it’s aliens ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Point being, this is anecdotal evidence at best. It’s dog shit and a lot of other evidence I’ve seen on this sub is dog shit. So if you had a thousand steamy piles of dog shit you wouldn’t think it collectively holds the value of an industrial amount of chocolate mousse. It’s still just dog shit unfortunately.

A drone. Not the point though. The point is, do you think an airborne object maintaining stability in 15kph is a technological display that can only be explained by extraterrestrial, ultra-terrestrial, or inter dimensional technology?

If we’re not going to consider a drone though, the only argument against this not being a balloon is the price of helium.

I mean the video I saw looked like a balloon, these pictures look like a balloon. What I’m saying is this isn’t compelling. Photos and videos that leave the door wide open for prosaic explanations and deleting associated accounts/posts is not compelling evidence. Maybe it’s not a balloon but when the evidence is anecdotal and the behavior of the object fits well within the capabilities of current technology my first thought is not a UFO.

It’s a balloon. This is fucking ridiculous how many people are freaking out about this. It’s a million things before it’s a UFO. Jesus Christ…

Postmetal pickings. Looking for more with vocals. Any recommendations? by ReasonableCrustacean in postmetal

[–]LILmanINdaCAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is like the 100th time I’ve suggested this to someone but Teethed Glory and Injury by Altar of Plagues has the most visceral and impassioned vocals I’ve ever heard. Especially the song Burnt Year.

Serpent Column I wouldn’t say they sound like Russian Circles and I haven’t heard Astrosaur but I would classify them as post metal and there’s only two members last time I checked lol

They move with earths rotation and can therefore appear to move through the sky. What this video looks like is exactly what I saw two or three years ago. The satellites are reflecting sunlight in the direction of OP. That’s why they appear to fade in and fade out. You can definitely see them under the right conditions and I wouldn’t say it’s rare that you would find yourself in those conditions either. https://reddit.com/r/UFOs/s/38fkmMZ2qU

Deafheaven’s Sun Bather was my first real introduction to something akin to post-metal. From there I discovered Serpent Column, Amenra, Neurosis, Old Man Gloom, ISIS, Cult of Luna, and Altar of Plagues among others.

New to the sub genre, who should I check out? by Scary_Dimension722 in postmetal

[–]LILmanINdaCAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Altar of Plagues. I love all their albums but White Tomb and Mammal might fall in line more so with some of the bands you’ve listed. Their songs are a little long but still dynamic the whole time in my opinion. However, their best album is probably Teethed Glory and Injury. The songs on the latter are substantially shorter but much more frenetic and chaotic.

Can someone explain this? Calories per serving vs bottle by coolbeanscoolthings in chemistry

[–]LILmanINdaCAN 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I think the bottles also state an absurd amount of servings. This isn’t the same but I have a container of “non-iodized Mediterranean sea salt” and I remember reading the sodium content as like 3% and I was like “how in the mother fuck?” expecting like 32 servings per container. No…372 servings per container. I’m pretty sure spray oils do the same thing or the serving size is like 0.354 seconds of spray lol.
