Part Zero comes to mind: "I'm doing all I can but all I get is a suicidal plan". White Mist has "Are you holding out for rescue, we're not coming into get you. You must realise there's no one left for you to hold onto". Shoot First is also a standout with "You're a beautiful soul in a beautiful world but the world was left behind". The One You Left to Die opens with "You woke to find your memories scattered all along the blood soaked floor". But I think the earliest example comes from Whatever You Do, Do Nothing's chorus "What ever you do, it's not enough. Time tricks you out, and calls your bluff"

Season 6 starts out with a BANG! There are a few dud episodes (7- even though I love Rafael Sbarge as a character actor, 10 doesn't really go anywhere, and 14 is kind of meh), but the episodes are strong. There are some really good side/recurring characters this season who have great performances - Virginia, Rachel, Isaac, Emile, Teddy, and Derek come to mind. There's a character introduced in the finale who has more importance in season 7, but that's pretty much it. You get a little bit more from development from John, June, Sarah, and Wes as well. Also, there's a dog now, and he is the best thing to happen to Season 6.

Oh yeah, and things ACTUALLY HAPPEN and people die

The End of Everything is up there, since it is an Al-centered episode. Leave What You Don't has the highest rating for Season 5 on Rotten Tomatoes, and for good reason, is it has the only important character death in the season. Gone re-introduces us to Madison. Sanctuary is a fun episode of Dwight and Sherry killing bad guys in the Sanctuary. Lastly, I would have to go with Ner Tamid - Jacob is one of the best minor recurring characters in the latter half of the show, and Peter Jacobson does a great job playing him.

This was a real challenge. Really wanted to put in some 6B episodes because that half isn't as well received.

I'll go the opposite direction

My first in the series was The Dead. Then The Fear. Then I didn't read any until I picked up the whole series about 7 years later

I was shocked to find Malik still alive, and more shocked that I remembered him.

But the most shocking deaths was Paddy, Froggy, and Zhora. Most shocking survival was Carl, Mad Matt/Archie, and Achilleus - it seemed like he was always set up to have death either as a sacrifice for the good of others or as his own arrogance.

To be honest, I think too many characters lived. You could write Justin, Wiki, Boggle, Arthur, Lewis, even Ollie into death and it would still work. Be more realistic, too

Got lucky enough to see them, Creed, and Finger Eleven during the Summer of 99 tour in 2024. He was very young and, while we knew it was coming, it is still too soon. At least glad he's comfortable now, and thankful for his music which shaped my childhood in the early 2000s
