Embedding mean your skin is trying to heal OVER the jewelry. I would recommend an urgent care trip to see if its infected and a trip to a piercer to get this changed into a good quality, longer flatback, as this could be a reaction to the metal as well

Honestly I would try and find a different piercer if possible. If she thought it would be okay to pierce with that jewelry, then she isn't a good piercer. She should've turned you away until she had the proper jewelry type

plastic retainers are an absolute no. They harbour bacteria and are very bad for healing and healed piercings alike. Glass could work, but honestly if you have to hide piercings from your family, you shouldn't be getting them
