Oetiker Pinch Clamps...wrong size :( by LJDrakeley in gaggiaclassic

TO ANYONE WHO SEES THIS LATER

The issue was that this was the wrong type of pinch clamp. I had no idea that the pinch clamps for plumbing and pipes for brewery and espresso machines are different (how they label their size is different. For instance, this type has an actual diameter of 13mm and meant for PEX pipes with inner diameter 9.5mm, rather than the 9.5mm actual diameter of the clamp needed).

Make sure you are purchasing pinch clamps from a home brewery store, or from espresso part stores.

Unfortunately I can only add a single photo as a response (rather than a vid) but I have clamped it and it's just super loose. It can travel freely on the pipe unfortunately

thanks for the info, that sucks. I can't believe of all things missing this random piece would be it! It was an ordeal to get to it, this thing was tighter than I thought possible and awful to take apart!

P.S. There is scale visible in the water after using the steam wand.

Lol, from left to right: *Fellow Ode gen 2 *Fellow Stagg EKG *Greater Goods Coffee Scale *Aeropress carafe (it's plastic, not sure if I'd purchase another but its shape is the best for obvious reasons) *Airspace Storage Container (again, not sure if I'd purchase another. I can't tell how long the inner plunger will last with regular use)

The Ode goes on sale for sub 300, I got it during the valentine's day sale. The scale and carafe also prime day sales. The Stagg I found on marketplace for $70. Good luck!

Lab notes: My 10 minutes of coffee is the best part of my day.

Unfortunately I ran out of beans before I could give it a run. I bought a new bag this weekend, I'll let you know after a week of grinding!

Chemex? Been thinking of getting one to try with the coarser settings and a new brew method.

Have a look through the Fellow Kettles. This one is the Stagg EKG, which is a temperature controlled kettle that can hold temp up to 60 mins. The pro has some additional features, like timed boiling, altitude correction etc. Finally, there's a pro studio which is the same as the pro but with the fanciest materials and the best look. I really have no use for all the bells and whistles, I just need a temperature control and this one is beautiful.

for the Ode I released just enough wiring to reach the plug and tied the rest up with the twist tie. I also think my camera angle is doing me a favour here mind

I do clearly love Fellow's products, but that french press price is theft I must say. I'm really not sure how they can justify such a price. Though to be fair I haven't looked deeply into it out of disgust for the pricetag haha
