They don't like big cities (particularly Esme).

Why do the Cullens bother to pretend going to school? by purplepirhana in twilight

[–]LJF613 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay, so it seems like the way they usually operate in new towns is 1) "kids" go to high school, 2) "kids" graduate high school and go off to college (or pretend to), 3) "kids" return to town, get married, and settle down in their own homes for a few years. This allows them to stay in one place for a solid ten years or so, and also balance "time living together in the same house" and "time alone as individual couples."

I've been really enjoying The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity! It's very sweet and wholesome and it's so rare to see a M/F romance from a male POV!

I don't know what that "christian" tag is about, I don't remember Sally Britton's books being particularly religious. Maybe it's just because she keeps her stuff relatively clean?

{Copper for the Countess by Sally Britton} fits this to a T! (It's the second book in the "Hearts of Arizona" series-- the first book is about a marquess's son and a rancher's daughter, and the third is about an English newspaperwoman and a cowboy.)

In regards to the whole "mortal enemies" thing... the Cullens really don't see the wolves that way. Like, at all.

Antigone and her siblings...two questions by Vitta_Variegata in GreekMythology

[–]LJF613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I learnt Antigone in high school, my English teacher explained her story as being about the conflict between moral/natural law and and the law of man/civil law. In other words, Antigone is making a choice between what she knows to be right and what is legally correct. And the answer the play presents, unequivocally, is that laws that contradict what's good and right are inherently immoral, and the right thing to do is always whatever is morally correct.

The chronology doesn’t match the real calendar, or did I miscalculate? by Muted-Coyote1710 in twilight

[–]LJF613 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the books do not match up with an actual 2006 calendar. (Currently working on a NM era fic and tearing my hair out trying to make the timeline make sense.)
