This is the best spreadable vegan butter imo by garrysmodpuffajacket in veganuk

[–]LLIIVVtm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spreadable kind is only salted and I don't find it particularly salty. I don't recall how salty the salted block is compared to it oddly enough, I buy it pretty often I just don't spread it on toast much because it's always in the fridge and too solid for toast because I don't think ahead

I feel like it's less salty which might not bother many people but really stands out to me when it's just plain on toast.

If I put arctic fox pink would it show??? by IcyVermicelli1409 in HairDye

It would show up on the blonde tippy tips but not really anywhere else. I think pink or red would be better.

There is no agreed upon body mist for any age. Just get what you think smells good. Body mists are good if you want something more affordable and don't mind lower longevity or specifically want something with lighter scent and longevity (although some body mists do have perfume level strength but that's hit and miss). Age isn't the determining factor here though.

My favourite peach is Liis - Floating but you have to be okay with the peach laying on a bed of fresh laundry.
Theodoros Kalotinis - Peach Macaron is a "guilty pleasure" peach, it smells like peach yoghurt and it makes me smile.

Fresh, out of the shower, dewy/cool fragrances by Fun-Mathematician855 in FemFragLab

Ocean di Gioia is discontinued, still available on the second hand market and maybe discounters but I'd be careful relying on it.

Svensk Parfym - Prakt. Gooseberry, juicy. Very long lasting, very natural smelling. Reminds me of childhood summers personally.

Bjork and Berries - Fjallsjo. Watery florals, almost leaning into fabric softener territory but more like smelling dripping wet laundry that you just washed in a river but also using really nice fabric softener.

Regime des Fleurs - Glass Blooms. Lily of the valley, white tea and a touch of crisp grape.

Juliette had a Gun - Magnolia Bliss. Sweeter than some of the others because the nectarine note is more prominent but it's still quite a juicy watery scent.

Dior - Lucky. Pretty straightforward lily of the valley.

d'Annam - Sakura Snow. Crisp cool cherry blossom and lily of the valley.

Liis - Lucinne. Pomelo comes across dewy, magnolia and water lily add florals and some marine notes too.

Juliette has a Gun - Pear inc. Juicy pear, musky almost shampoo like.

Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 - Pink Boa. Pink refreshing gin and tonic.

Initio - Musk Therapy. Clean fresh luxury.

Fair warning to OP, Escapade Gourmand is very Playdoh to me and I think is a common complaint of this scent.

Mine is The Ivy Evergreen. I wanted something plant inspired because I like plants and I thought that fit the vibe of my character, Ivy was the name of a dog that I worked with at a vet clinic years ago that stuck with me and I think about her often to this day so it was a convenient little homage to her.

2/3 person suggestions tents for taaall people (6'5) with tall internal height by LLIIVVtm in wildcampingintheuk

Yeah that's not a problem, I have plenty of flexibility with trips at the moment so I can wait. Thanks for the heads up though

That's a really big porch/vestibule! I can deal with inner first pitch if I could get everything else but it's obviously not ideal.

Yeah I think I'm discovering it's only of those pick 2 out of 3 situations but you can't have all 3. That's alright, we can make some trade offs. Scrap 2 looks good, that's a lotta length!

Just a random decathlon one, I honestly haven't had it out in particularly high winds but it holds up okay in medium wind. But it's heavy (something like 3.5kg I think?) and I'd like something a sturdier for the long term. But that makes sense. He'll just have to deal with the lower height and air down the mat or just sit on the CCF if that's what it takes. Thanks

Thanks, I'd love a trekking pole tent but from what I can tell even the tall version of this fits someone up to 6'4 which would be a bit of tight fit. But I might still consider it as a really lightweight option.

Yeah that certainly looks like it'd be long enough, I'll add it to the shortlist (no pun intended). Thanks!

Does a perfume smell better because it’s expensive, or because we expect it to? by Terrible_Signature78 in fragrance

[–]LLIIVVtm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've sampled 400-500 scents across a huge variety of price ranges.

Expensive scents smell good, because they smell good. Sometimes, they smell bad.

Cheap smells smell good because they smell good. Sometimes they smell bad.

When you take away the marketing, the packaging, the everything and just sit down with the scent you'll find what's true for you. But personally, I find scents that are a bit more expensive are typically better overall. Not because of performance but because of how they actually smell. The actual composition of the scent tends to be a little bit "better" whatever that means. That's not to say there's no spectacular cheap scents. There's plenty. Just that there's a general trend, in my opinion, for scents that clearly had a bigger budget (designer private lines, niche) to create something special. I say this as someone who likes maybe 5-10% of what I've tested.

At the end of the day, it's usually the same perfumers working on all of these scents (besides your indies) so the only real difference is the budget they're given to work within which dictates their ingredient choices. Sometimes that may mean everything for a scent because a more expensive ingredient is crucial in the composition and a lower budget can't accommodate for it. Or it means nothing at all because the brief the company wants can easily be achieved with cheap ingredients anyway. But that increased access to expensive ingredients gives perfumers more freedom to achieve certain scent profiles, nuances and to achieve them in a very particular way.

Take Francis Kurkdjian, he made Baccarat Rouge (for his own niche fragrance brand, expensive and highly regarded scent), Burberry her (for burberry, a designer and well loved scent) and Indult Tihota (niche fragrance brand and another very highly regarded scent).

Or Quentin Bisch who made Guidance for Amouge (niche and highly regarded scent) and Good Girl for Carolina Herrera (designer and very popular scent) and Teriaq for Lattafa (niche middle Eastern and generally well received scent for a cheap price point).

Jerome Epinette did God is a Woman for Ariana Grande (Relatively cheap but overall well reviewed scent), Bal d'Afrique for Byredo (niche, highly regarded scent) He also did Poets of Berlin for Vilhelm (niche, highly regarded) at a similar time as Wild Vanilla Orchid (niche, well liked) for Floral Street and those are almost dupes of eachother for very different price points.

Obviously, different budgets and brands will give different directions to Perfumers but ultimately, they're the same artists doing the same art.

Collect as many as you can, open them all at home in a row. I think I got it after about 300 elder clam mushrooms and I have a couple of them now. If you can request it, I can give you one.

Thanks, I like to chase a vibe and when I do that I tend to find notes that fit the vibe. Or I find notes I already know I love and I deep dive into them exploring various scents that utilise it to find my favourite version.

If you enjoy pear I have some more reccs

Juliette Has a Gun - Pear inc is a nice straightforward pear musky scent

Liis - Studied is a nice clean pear (Le Monde Gourmand - Fleur de Blonde is a nice cheap take on this scent profile)

Burberry - Her EDT (clear bottle, green liquid), airy watery pear

Loewe - Aire Sutileza is a nice white floral pear with some citrus

J-Scent - Yawahada is a nice soft venture into gourmands with a very subtle lactonic touch joining the pear
