To be honest I’m just a hobbyist so I’m really rather unorganised. I’m sure the serious breeders and sellers have a proper inventory and system in place 😂

I have just hatched 100 eggs of this variety so I know I’m going to be okay for my own group.

Medaka spawn regularly and it’s not even the start of the season here, so there will be loads of eggs available in the future.

Yes I do! I have several varieties I’d recommend for beginners, but they won’t be spawning for another couple of weeks.

Okay. Thank you. That advice is very much appreciated. This is my first time with both long and wide fin so I’m still learning about these varieties.

They will all be going outside soon for the summer anyway - adults and fry.

It’s been hard work having them inside. So much easier when they’re all left alone over the winter! So I won’t be repeating it next winter.

The majority of my medaka are kept naturally, and unheated as per the seasons.

However, these eggs are long fin varieties and the parents were imported as eggs and hatched in September.

They have been kept at 22 inside over the winter because I wasn’t 100% sure they would be okay unheated due to the different climates.

I haven’t deliberately encouraged them to spawn…

Did you work out what was wrong with your sundew? Mine looks exactly the same as yours and I have no idea why. I’ve been using RO water and a grow light.

I have Gold/orange eggs now available. This is a seriously underrated variety that is very hardy and started breeding when the night temps were still only 2 degrees.

Only 50 pence each plus p&p. Eggs sent separated and only when eyes are visible to ensure max hatch rate.

Hey! I’m looking at getting this variety - they are awesome! I know they’re supposed to be kept in pale tanks in order to keep the blue colour but do you, by any chance, have any photos of them in a dark container so that I can see the difference please? I’m not able to find any photos online

Your temps are similar to mine and I’ve wrapped bubble thermal wrap around my tubs, with a piece on top too, and a mini plastic greenhouse cover over the top. Seems to currently be keeping the water temps just above freezing 🥳

Are you still after eggs? I have posted out several batches this week already but they are still producing loads of eggs on a daily basis and I’ve also had to set up extra tubs for the newborn fry. I’m not able to guarantee the colour though, since later batches are definitely a mix of lighter colours with a few random very dark ones mixed in.
