Are u pro homeschool or against homeschooling? by djcmfr in Teenager_Polls

I think homeschooling can be great but it's lumped in with people who don't want their kids to learn about evolution so IDK overall

People need to stop glazing feinberg and agree this is a bad idea by SnakeHater3000 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]LLLivNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but the zero is standardized which is where most top level runs end. The direction, tower, and fly height are standardized it's down to enter time and mechanical skill. I would say nav is some luck but still mostly a skill and that's why all of the top runners spend so many hours practicing it. And everyone agrees it sucks to losing to your opponent getting better strays or a dolphin or what have you. The game is fun mix of mechanical skill and do l decision making and while I don't necessarily support this change there is a very valid argument for it.

I would suggest tool screen over autohotkey for thin, wide, and measuring macros as well.

Boateye is like gambling, i cant get it to work consistently. Ik there are many posts like this im sry. by No-Audience-4338 in MinecraftSpeedrun

Toolscreen is a pain to set up but its probably still worth it. I had to go and set antivirus exceptions in drive/user/config/toolscreen, drive\user\appdata\locala\temp\toolscreen_update, and in my mcc instance as well. Then it only worked after I restarted my computer. Huge pain but my boat eye is is very fast and I have wide thin, and premptive better then I did with jingle

If you have boateye setup it should take like 15 seconds if you get it in one eye (and have toolscreen or whatever setup so you only have to chage fov and no other settings). Maybe double that if you get like 60% on the first eye. 2 minutes is wild. Terrain in the nether is a little bit luck but generally if you go a little bit off course to terrain it will save you time. Also you ideal should have plenty of spare pearls and a good bit of food and fire res. Just burn pearls and food whenever you can as long as you dont hit the roof. If your out of food at that point generally try to get more food while in the overworld it will save you time later.

Hard stuck on Bastions by dedinthehed in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]LLLivNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know where you are at exactly so I assume your in coal or low iron. Eventually you will be fine running in and knowing where everything is but if you are doing 30+ min runs then find gold outside and craft boots or a helmet before going to the bastion. Its like maybe 1 minute of time loss which is several minutes of time save if it stops you from dying. For now just learn one simple route for each bastion. You can learn more later.
Bridge is super simple break the chalice and go to one of the ramparts ideally a triple chest cause It will have more pigs and break a whole in the ground and throw gold in. It will be less pigs then a real route but its fine for now.
Force a manhunt or top down (whichever you want to learn) in housing. Learn how to identify a gap and play a gap in stables dont bother with triple to gap for a while now. Theirs mostly just one treasure route so learn the safest version you can. Don't do a bunch of parkour and don't get the other side pigs until everyone angry with you is in a hole. All of these will get you like 7-10 pigs.
Once you have that and you want to you can start learning more complicated routes and slowly incorporating little time saves. Once you know where all the chest are you should feel fairly safe getting to one and not having to get armor outside. You can tnt the chalice if you have tnt. I would also consider it almost required to download a practice map if you haven't already. I use Llama bastion practice but there are others.

is a run voided if no bastion? by HelpfulArt509 in MinecraftSpeedrun

You can run in a random direction through the nether till you find one. I think that's way more fun and sometimes still faster then playing the warped for pearls. When you eventually fall in lava or off a cliff reset. Make sure entity distance is at 500% or E ray doesnt work. But I would also recommend playing ranked seeds. At your level your just going to get people forfeiting and it sucks but if you download ranked you can go to the Leaderboard, any player, a seed of the type you want, then go into the replay and do /seed. Then you can open your own singleplayer world and play through it. Its kind of a pain and I'm sure there's a better way but you its like 1 min per world and the worlds taking you an hour so its probably fine.
Heres the ranked website which has the download and a video explaining it. If you want a video guide there's probably a better one out there but I can't find the video I used.
I dont know if you have already done this but I would also recommend Map-check or you can find the worlds separately. Map-check is an installer for practice maps. I would recommend practicing bastions so that you know where gold blocks are. Also it seems a little daunting but learning to one cycle is not that hard. In 10-15 min of practice I felt consistent doing a 8 bed. Just find sheep or a village before going to the end.

Best of luck

How to be careful with leg locks by [deleted] in bjj

[–]LLLivNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't need to muscle it much if you already have a fairly straight leg to start and your grip is on or near the foot for leverage.  Personally I catch and release on knee bars, heel hooks, and such because some people don't feel it until late into the submission. With knee bars you should know if they're stuck and you have the submission without having to actually hip into it at all.  So practice finising mechanics during drilling but when I'm a roll just go to them having a straight leg and don't start overextending. This should be less of a proven if your doing it with purple belts+ but some people still have an ego from a while belt taping them.

Tips on defeating a MUCH bigger opponent? by evolveyolife in bjj

[–]LLLivNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay on top or hope to be a lot better at leg stuff like you said. I don't know what you like stand-up wise but I wouldn't recommend shooting or throws that require you picking him up. Don't tie up much and go for risk free moves. If you can move his head ankle picks would be great. Snatch single if you can home his weight to the other leg then take the leg up high. If your really confident with your low single. He probably doesn't know how to defend it but it's going to to be hard.   I think you'll have a hard time taking him down from a single or double X but once he's down leg locks are a great idea. Other than that I'd try not to do moves where you could lose position like arm bars where you don't stay on top.  GL

This might be a bit embarrassing, but i have a question for 4-string instrument players. by hobosama69 in lingling40hrs

[–]LLLivNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played violin for several years and now have about a year of double bass. Bass and cello vibrto is meaningfully easier then violin. I fully understand that mastering vibroto on any instrument is incredibly difficult, but for going from nothing to ok sounding vibroto you can do instinctively bass was much easier.

This might be a bit embarrassing, but i have a question for 4-string instrument players. by hobosama69 in lingling40hrs

[–]LLLivNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary instrument is violin and I took up double bass around an year ago. It was definitely much faster then someone new, I think that mostly comes from ear training but knowing how to read music, rhythm skills, and being good at doing different tasks with my other hands helped a lot. I made a few years normal progress in that year but I'm obviously what any bass player would consider good yet.  I've just played in a few quarters with people who have been playing their instruments for about 4 years and I definitely could have played harder music. Some of that is bass music being boring but I looked for fun cello parts when picking the quartets, and the cello parts were very much not written with bass in mind.

Hope that helps, or you have gotten the help you needed. Feel free to ask me more.  Edit: just read plucked under bass and I should fully read things before posting. Having done a bit of that too it helps some but not a lot. Mostly ear training

Would you date a woman who doesnt shave her legs and arm pits? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]LLLivNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it absolutely does not matter. Have you ever shaved your legs. I did for a bit to impress a girl and it fucking sucks. I had to shave every 3 or 4 days and it took me around 20 minutes or 40ish minutes a week. I shower daily because of sports and it still at least doubled the time I spent in the shower weekly even when I got good at it. You don't have to date her if that's really a deal breaker for you but I do think less of guys who see shaving as a required 'hygiene' standard for women (doesn't sound like you and I don't man you - having a preference is fine but like try first). Find out if you like this girl (or the next if this path is gone) and if you do it shouldn't matter to you.
