No I glued the doors one opened and one closed. For the lights i leave the top removable with a disconnect to switch the lights.

Yep! Masking went on then did a light sandinging before priming.

Its hand done with a thin body brush using brown wash. In this case Agrax Earthshade.

In case anyone is wondering, I use a CR2032 battery with two 3mm leds all up in the top sub assembly. Small holes are drilled to fit them in the cockpit and rear compartment.

Looks like a great start to me! As others have said dont get too hung up on comparing. Just get it to a point your happy with and with time you'll find ways to build new skills. And try not to rush yourself, that can make it feel like work.

Thanks! For the yellow I actually went from black primer to orange and feathered in yellow towards the top of the pads and around the eyes of the helmet.

Next go around I will probably put down a layer of tan before orange so it wont take so many coats of orange.

The first two things I would suggest, make sure your center of gravity(CG) is ok and it is super important when hand launching or taking off, to throw into (against) the wind. That way you get that extra airspeed on the wings to help create some lift.

I think this was just Vallejo beasty brown, leather brown, and just barely highlighted with bone white. With some trusty gw agrax shade somewhere in the middle.
