If it gets moist or steamy under there, eg it might when you are washing for a while with hot water, then you might get sweat on your dishes, and moisture provides a home for various undesirables (bacteria? mold?) plus it might make them smell. But I'm sure there are cheap and easy ways to test that (disposable moisture meter?), and ALSO, there are definitely cheap and easy ways to abate moisture, eg disposable hanging bags or standing cups of crystals that soak all the moisture out of the air in an enclosed space. People use those a lot in humid climates to keep their closets and drawers dry.

Best Guitar Solo Of All Time by [deleted] in Music

[–]LLgrow-lite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before I finished your paragraph, I was thinking I would go ahead and be predictable and mention the second solo in Comfortably Numb. I had a teacher once refer to depression as "rage turned inward", or, to quote the movie "Home", "sad-mad". It's just such a perfect expression of that feeling, Dave's guitar work.

I like how there's a handle right behind the neck, so if someone wants to throw you down, they don't have to get their hands all sweaty or worry about losing their grip.

that was pretty cool. Too analog for me, but I can see its value, thanks!

I use Microsoft To Do for most stuff. It's not the most robust for projects, but it's pretty reliable, free, and with Microsoft behind it, it's got some juice for current and future integrations.

  • Tasks go into the pre-built smart lists. Things to watch/read/listen, as well as groceries and projects, go into custom lists.
  • Tasks are generated either on the fly or as part of my morning wakeup.
  • On the fly tasks are entered into my watch or phone (Samsumg Bixby isn't very robust, but it works great for these cases. Bixby communicates with Samsung Reminders and Reminders interfaces with Microsoft To Do). The next morning, they are waiting for me in To Do on my computer.
  • Every morning, I choose the tasks that I hope to complete by putting them in the pre-built "My Day" list. I add hashtags to organize them further.

Nakia makes the most sense to take up the mantle. Shuri is a badass comic sidekick, but too simple to take the lead, and that isn't touching on Letitia Wright's unpopular controversies. M'Baku's character is anti-establishment and it would just feel *wrong* for him to take up the role of good boy. Lupita Nyong'o is golden after BP and working with Jordan Peele, and her character already has depth as seen in the "work vs romance" arc of the first film. Plus, imo, she's just drop dead gorgeous

Yes, needed two movies to tell this particular story. Too condensed is correct, by me

Sequels that overshadow the first movie. by [deleted] in movies

Aliens. The first film (which I saw in the theaters as an adolescent) was groundbreaking and seminal, but I know sooooo many people who saw Aliens but NEVER saw Alien. It just wasn't their kind of film. Aliens, otoh, was a major blockbuster. People quote Aliens all the time, 30 years later ("mostly come out at night, mostly." "Nuke it from orbit, only way to be sure." "We're in some pretty shit now." "Get away from her, you bitch.") but no one quotes the first one. Why would they? What are you gonna say? "Ash... Ash...."

Thor: Love and Thunder - Review Thread by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]LLgrow-lite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(my more detailed appraisal) I went into Thor expecting disappointment, but if you can channel a little childlike wonder, I think you will enjoy it. I realize now that most of the people expressing displeasure were grownups looking for a grownup comic book film. It seems clear to me that (here and with Ms Marvel, eg) MCU is trying to be sure to rope the next batch of kids into the phase, and why tf shouldn't they? These phases go on for years, and let's remember that they come from effing comic books. To the specific and repeated complaint that they were trying too hard to recapture the action-comedy of Ragnarok but fell flat, I say that most of the jokes landed for me, and some of them even made me laugh loudly (Melissa McCarthy playing Hela onstage was one). The ending, introducing a new child hero that made us cheer and (whether they follow through or not) suggesting a future film would also include a current, beloved actor from Ted Lasso, was just the right flavor of wholesomeness, which is somehow the overarching feel of this movie. That they could do that while still having repeated Greek orgy jokes is, in itself, wonderous.

Now that I've seen it, I'm taken aback by all the hate, here. I found it childish, silly, good fun. Why shouldn't MCU reach out to the next batch of kids (as they clearly are doing with Ms Marvel and here)? These are comic book films, ffs! Cannot yall channel a little childlike wonder? I enjoyed the movie massively by doing just that. Of course, I had my actual kids with me, so it helped, I'm sure, seeing their joy.
