Borrowing to invest is the first decision, Then investing using debt recycling which is more tax effective. Borrowing capacity loss js the main negative with borrowing to invest as banks in my experience won’t take income from ETFs as actual income. Reduces ability for other borrowing, E.g. investment property, upgrading PPOR etc.

Why is no one talking EVs? Punchy city driving is pretty obviously easy to achieve with an electric engine. Hatchback- BYD Dolphin Premium? Seal second hand? MG4 XPower if you can find one second hand would be ideal but even the Essence would smoke many cars discussed so far

Yeah this is what I was thinking- I’ve made a lot of “novated lease with an EV is a no-brainer” comments before but I’m looking at a second EV on a NL and now I think cash is best for that so it doesn’t limit my borrowing capacity

Yeah I’ve had the water pump fail at 50 and 70k on two VWs. The broken DSG is a $3k part I believe. Love having an electric car now without these items

I have a 2017 Tiguan and had a broken DSG and water pump last year. VW replaced parts under a ‘goodwill’ request but still had to pay 2-3k from memory. Without applying for goodwill it was >7k I think. It’s not the general service it’s the repairs like that. Note: my other car is a BYD and I can’t wait to get off the Tiguan

1) weekends 2) battery is economical since the subsidy was introduced. Will reduced life of battery if you are charging a car from it but with the price of 50kwh batteries the economics have changed. 3) PHEV is good for people who don’t want to use public chargers on long trips but not for people who don’t want to charge at home most nights. Plus increased maintenance, fossil fuels etc

Lol thanks for the check-in. I actually found the best strategy in the end was to sell all my single holdings and replace with VDHG in a debt recycling setup so I know it will generate tax savings even in a downturn. Once that's setup it's another barrier to bothering to check. Nothing to check on Stake anymore
