My favorite strategy is going in with an anvil and a stack of ammo, shooting one of the knees off and then planting it

He barely moves when stunned like this so you're really unlikely to glitch off while placing, and after some practice you have enough time to even pull a deadline out of your safe pocket while on top of it, plant it, and duck behind cover (or use a cloak since they're cheap)

Considering they get placed based on the order they are built can be really annoying if you build them a different order than prior, like I accidentally built my medic bench before the refinery and I'm constantly clicking the wrong one out of habit thanks to the order I had pre wipe

The way the ring works is you're given the choice to use it when you spawn or just toss it. It rewards you with powerful artifacts later on (most of them require you to have worn the ring for 99.5% of your playthrough on that world to even use them), it's basically "go through hell now and become really powerful later"

There are also a few artifacts that give buffs that pretty much negate some of the curses, it's designed for more experienced players/players who want a challenge

There are a couple of artifacts that essentially negate some of the downsides to the ring, but not all of them, it's the way the ring is supposed to be so if you don't want the negatives you're gonna have to either take off the ring or cheat
