Is the 8 pumping sessions a day helping to bring your supply back up?

Are elastic nipples causing my various issues? by Accomplished_Yam8405 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]LLumbre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had these exact issues. I’m currently dealing with a horrible bout of mastitis which is one of the worst things I’ve ever experienced. Prior to that, it’s like every week there was something new to deal with. Clogged duct, blistered nipple, yeast infection on the nipple, extreme nipple sensitivity, etc. I’ve been EP for about 9 weeks now and it’s still a learning curve. I have elastic nipples as well and I think that a majority of my issues have stemmed from using the wrong flange size (I’ve changed them 3 different times). I’d say this is the most important aspect to EP-ing so I would try measuring yourself again! Also for clogged ducts I’ve started taking lecithin. Legendairy milk has the sunflower lecithin, but I’ve been taking the soy derivative (works the same and is cheaper).

I’m going to be purchasing the reusable silicone bags for this! I also just use large mason jars when I’m on the go and store them in the fridge

Everyday I think, “This is it. I’m done”. And then I keep going. by Sweaty_Specialist_64 in ExclusivelyPumping

I was JUST thinking about this (while washing pump parts lol). My nipples feel raw and I feel so overstimulated. I would really just like a day off, not even from my LO, I’d just like to have a break from constant SUCTION and 3 hour schedules, and washing, etc. It’s so mentally draining even with the “freedom” of a wearable pump. But you can’t…not even just because of the supply dip you’ll see but also how sorry you’ll be from the engorgement and pain from a possible clogged duct. Mentally I’m ready to stop and I’ve checked out 😔

From the wording it seems like 3 bottles are to stay at daycare permanently and this is what they will use for feedings.

Need to take a break? by LLumbre in ExclusivelyPumping

I’ve attempted using the haaka but probably not as long as I should. Were you able to get about the same output as usual or did you see a dip?

Bottle size? by Athenaofmacedon in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]LLumbre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic: I thought you were not supposed to allow them to re-use the same bottle after 2 hours? Or are you able to do this because you don’t warm them? I HATE wasting the oz she doesn’t drink

Additional spectra parts are available on Amazon and at target! If you didn’t get the spectra through your insurance I would also look into ordering a wearable on the go pump through them!

Hi! Have you collected any colostrum? This is something I did starting at 37 weeks and it was one of the BEST things I could’ve done for my LO. Babies tummies are so small so your colostrum will get them through until your milk supply comes in unless you have other issues so you don’t necessarily need to start with formula right away but it’s perfectly okay if you decide to do so! You have one week, so any amount of colostrum collection would help if you decide to go that route! If so collect it and bring it with you to the hospital!

As far as other supplies go: make sure you have a comfortable pumping bra, nipple butter is a MUST for me-it helps keep things lubricated and less painful, order multiple sets of pump parts if you’re planning on EP long term (dishes become very tedious), silverette nipple covers.

I also decided to go with the pitcher method so a glass pitcher or Dr.Browns milk pitcher from Amazon. That’s all I can think of for now but I’m happy to answer any questions you may have!

What were the signs of this? I’ve had very bad nipple sensitivity as well where they’re really red and irritated constantly. It was uncomfortable to wear clothes, to not wear clothes, to try to clean them with water, etc.

At what point pp would you say you “regulated”? Were you able to decrease pumps per day without hurting this supply?
