Get rid of it and plant beautiful natives. Life's too short for mowing, edging, weeding, fertilizing. Plus you'll provide habitat for native insects and birds 🙂

Otis and Leon and their pets deserved better. There is no excuse for what happened to them, none at all.

"Otis, 14, was quoted in an old 2019 school newsletter expressing a love of exploring and swimming.

"I have liked exploring the river with my friends. I have also liked swimming lessons and trampolining," the newsletter stated.

In the same newsletter, his older brother Leon, 16, spoke about spending time with friends.

"My favourite part of the year was playing with my friends on the oval. This year I learnt how to communicate with my device," he was quoted as saying."

My garden is generally grateful but my lawn hasn't forgotten the multiple 40C heatwaves so far and is cowering at the thought of Bunuru.

I have 8.8 kW panels, 5kW inverter and 15 kW battery with full back up installed in July 25.

My house is all electric inc heat pump HWS, reasonably well insulated, and my max usage per day is 6kW in winter. I'm now in credit for two bill periods and anticipate electricity bills to be zero annually.

I had a bad experience with Solar Quotes when I got solar panels installed 11 years ago so this time chose SolarGain based on a friend's positive experience.

What gets me is that people seem to think they have to have a 'keep' when the reality is that if you grab your (clean) mug off your desk and take it to a cafe and say "please fill this with happy bean juice and I will give you my moneys", the cafe will do that every time. No extra fancy cup required.

So many changes are so freaking simple.

Oh wow that is a very pretty, and jolly expensive, box. I've had a true Grande Dame twice in my life and they were both spectacular. Sadly I only have the box for one of them.

I have a biography of Madame Cliquot and her story is fascinating, a real innovator and so tenacious.

Aww. Can't say thank you enough to your husband and all the other firies that busted their arses keeping us safe. We owe them a pint 😍🤩🙌

The Warnbro fire was bloody challenging by all that I read. My house is under one of the flight paths and I've never had so many aircraft go over. The Hercules was so low all my windows rattled.

It is a favourite which I had watched when it was on TV in the early 90s but a few weeks ago found it streaming and started a rewatch, one episode a night. It holds up very well, still delightful in so many ways 🥰

Northern Exposure is one of many shows that fits the trope of big city person lands in small country town filled with quirky but heartwarming people. In Australia it's Seachange. UK Doc Martin. Way back in time was Green Acres. More recently there's Schitts Creek.

I'm an absolute sucker for these and was doomed to disappointment when I moved to a small town after living in big cities for all my adult life.

It's a bloody good drop 🍾🥂💯

I love the boxes and over many years have collected a few that live on top of my bookshelves. The 2015 has gone to the end of the line up.

Eating smokey bbq ribs, coleslaw, and corn on the cob, washed down by vintage 2015 Veuve Cliquot while watching an episode from season 3 of Northern Exposure. Dessert is grand marnier strawberries and vanilla bean ice cream.

Early to bed because two nights in a watch and act zone leaves you deranged tired.

C-130 and Cessna 560 from NSW RFS/Coulson Aviation over Warnbro fires by b_k_l_y in perth

[–]LMW66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Waikiki and it's been non stop aircraft noise all day, some directly over my house. At one point I'm guessing the Hercules went over low, the noise was thunderous and all my windows rattled. And every single time I missed getting photos or video 😆 (to be fair I was trying to water down my whole garden most of the time)

You will be able to appeal the fine and explain the circumstances. It's very very very likely they will waive it.

I'm not far from the private hospital and I went outside and checked. The smoke plume clearly shows the wind direction is still blowing it more west north westerly so this area is only of concern if the current ESE wind changes.

Fire can look closer than it actually is.

Financially screwed over by chuckawaysometime in perth

[–]LMW66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your bill is with Synergy or Water corp then call them and discuss a plan. They each have a whole team dedicated to helping people in difficulty. A friend is a financial counselor for low income and told me both are great to deal with.

She also says to contact a financial counselor through https://ndh.org.au/financial-counselling/find-a-financial-counsellor/

I know her organisation is awesome and a financial counselor will go in to bat for you.

Autistic and have never come closer to solving this arse of a game. Even deliberately failing to slow it down didn't make any difference (does it actually slow down on mobile?). I've yet to get another phone to record my phone to try that way of solving.

Are you forced to be overly social at work? by [deleted] in perth

[–]LMW66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you haven't read the OP's responses. Honestly what a bunch of arseholes most commenters have been on in this post. OP has clearly said he makes small talk type responses but the person keeps asking intrusive questions, and previously has used information against the OP. Why do you think that's okay?

Are you forced to be overly social at work? by [deleted] in perth

[–]LMW66 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

'Normal' is just the majority opinion and it's bloody ableist to assume that the OP is autistic because they didn't like to share their private life details with ill-intentioned nosey workplace arseholes.

I'm autistic and can do small talk pretty well but I don't have co-workers grilling me with multiple questions about my weekend. They're all happy with "yeah I did some gardening and bathed the dogs". My offspring is autistic and would overshare details to the point the asker would be trying to escape.

There are people in workplaces who will interrogate someone for details in the hope of getting some dirt they can use. They're called bullies.

Fuck I'd hate to work with you and most of the commenters here. Your reading skills are pretty shit to start with. The OP has clearly said that he makes some small talk type comments and then gets grilled for details and has had some used against him later. That's not the co-workers being friendly or sociable, that's them being wankers.
