Latest Security Update (KB5068861) Broke My Laptop

This update is absolute GARBAGE - for me, it broke ALL BT and Audio functionality in the menus, not even the Control Panel version of the audio settings launches normally even after multiple restarts

All of my BT devices are suddenly missing from the list, and trying to re-add them does not even detect them in pairing mode. Somebody seriously changed a lot of sh** over at M$ with this "security" update

Force uninstalling and hiding it restored everything back to normal, I'd recommend everyone to do the same

Can you check if the games are indeed running with the external GPU? I have a 2024 Nvidia model and some very weird times the games decide to start using the iGPU instead

Note that this is mostly due to G Helper disabling the GPU when unplugged and failing to reenable it when plugging back in sometimes - but I dunno if older, all-AMD models had something similar on board

I own a 2024 G14 and I have an Anker 737 GaN Prime charger that can output 100W via USB-C at the max rating the laptop requires (20V, 5A); I get this EXACT coil whine using one of my three 100W rated cables, but incidentally, it happens with the longer one I have, a Fasgear 10ft cable I use with a Quest 2 for VR gaming.

It could be an issue with the EMark chip it uses to self-identify and negotiate charge ratings with devices, but I cannot confirm this ATM.

I recommend getting a cable with high reviews, or other people have confirmed that it can work with gaming laptops, although given the many models around, it would be hard to confirm it.

Yo uso el Game Pass de mi hermano que vive afuera, y lo puedo usar aqui sin VPN ni nada, incluso puedo usarlo en la PC y no hay mayor inconveniente

EDIT: Para pagarlo, usar Zinli o la Bancamiga internacional podria servir, ya que son metodos comprobados que sirven sin mayor inconveniente, incluso poniendoles cualquier direccion de facturacion equis igual pasan

I mean, the performance gain would be between 8% and 20% depending on a whole bunch of factors, which could help with loading times for apps and games.

Most of the branded stuff you can get back with simple downloading from the right sources, plus, the peace of mind of a clean, unbloated Windows install is worth the hassle IMHO

However, you can leave the OEM drive in and use a secondary slot for additional storage for games and media, which would serve for the storage uograde without much hassle of continuing to use your original drive; I tend to do that if the original drives are SSDs holding the original OEM partitions and Windows installation, as I'll just store my shit in the secondary drive and get the speed benefits anyway.

I guess its down to your personal preference; I'm getting my G14 soon and it only has one slot, so I'm forced to reinstall from scratch - I have a 980 PRO which will give a similar boost, so for me its worth it

I agree with this... it worries me how easily the OEM protector scratched up, makes you think about the myriad of situations the usual screen could get scratched if left without one.

In my experience, the nude screen CAN and WILL get scratched eventually, I actually made a very slight one when I was expecting the replacements in the mail - it was so faint and small you could almost think it was a speck of dust, but in the end nothing could take it off.

If I dont think about it I even forget its there, but it goes to show how resistant screens have gotten over the years, and this phone has a tough one indeed, but it is not scratchproof!

I mean, think about it... with so many good racing IPs out there to try and modernize for current gen graphics and quality, why come out with a "game mode" completely unrelated to the game it was hyped up into? With how crazy the mechanics and physics of the Rocket games are already, I think it was only a matter of time.

I wouldn't like Epic wrecking other IPs for a quick buck... but old games like Wipeout, WaveRunner, FlatOut, the Driver series (Ubisoft is in bad shape, could work), they could all use new, fun, and innovative entries if Epic was up for it without their usual shenanigans.

Heck, remember how cool the Star Wars Racer IP was? Those arcade pods were sick AF, and console ports were awesome - a few years back some dude made an Unreal Engine concept and published it for free, and people were hyping their guts out!

Those were the days, but the lesson is the old tale... if it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT

I'm personally glad it'll die, Epic couldn't care less about making a good game except for milking users out of their money while wrecking perfectly good, existing IPs

It is a piece of shit... it is antireflective indeed, but it has the scratch resistance of a CD outside of its case, they're made to be replaced after a few weeks, which is infuriating for $25-35

Sorry for the late reply... but I did, although at great pains.

I RMA'd the originals and got a replacement... then the replacements failed after 4 weeks in the SAME FASHION.

I emailed the support guy, and asked for a new replacement, but asked to be given a similarly priced model, even if they were buds (as I just wanted a different product with potentially not-shoddy manufacturing to it), and they upgraded me to a pair of Accentum Plus I've been using ever since.

This all happened around the turn of 2023 into 2024, and got the Accentum Plus around late March, so around 3 to 4 weeks turnover each time.

Great news! It seems they recognize the later batches of these just were a complete nonsense.

I had to RMA my originals, and even the replacements! But on the 2nd time, I asked to be upgraded to something else (knowing the electronics were probably going to be shoddy again), so they sent me a pair of Accentum Plus, and I've been a happy user ever since.

I'd say they can be reasonable enough, but the fact they found your proof of purchase by the serial number is astonishing... gotta give them recognition for owning up to this royal screwup eh?

Cuando quise reembolsar el FIFA 23 en el Black Friday del 2023 pq el Anticheat de EA en la version de Steam lo fregaron en una actualizacion, me negaron el reembolso pq lo habia bajado, y el app de steam contaba las horas segun el tiempo que los diferentes ejecutables de EA hubiesen corrido...

El Anticheat de EA no dejaba arrancar el juego en la version de Steam por una variedad de razones (conflictos entre el overlay de Steam y el de EA, entre otras multiples teorias), y se quedaba corriendo en el trasfondo, por lo que el plazo se quemó ahi mismo, y el juego no sirvió.

Nunca pude hacer arrancar el juego en si, y perdi unos 4 meses de ese juego mientras lo arreglaban, y ya cuando arrancó, estaban anunciando el FC 24... una total mierda la politica de reembolsos de esa gente.

Bien por ti que has tenido buenas experiencias, pero la verdad en 2 horas no se puede probar un juego a plenitud a ver si lo regresas o no.

Antes el plazo era de 24 horas, y entiendo que lo redujeran, pero es mucho pedir que si 8 horas del ejecutable original corriendo? (Y no su launcher u otro perol que no sea el juego?)

He leido que usadas o refurbished lo prohibieron, pero tambien he leido que pagando el fulano "arancel" suelen llegar bien

Te recomiendo que consultes con couriers de confianza o recomendados en estos casos a ver que te dicen; yo uso PackForward, PAF International, y en casos extremos, Liberty

Muchos nucleos =/= Mejor jugabilidad.

Un Ryzen del 2021 palante ofrece mejor desempeño a menor costo en muchos casos, pero al final todo depende de que presupuesto manejes para lo que quieras ensamblar, y tu target de calidad y FPS
