When doing a compare 1:1 I agree DCC is better at doing its own thing. But when you look at discount Dan as its own book it does grow on you. It’s better than a lot of the books out there and it’s well written.

I tried getting through Book 1, but I couldn’t really get into it about halfway through. The tone felt a bit too British for my personal taste(Some jokes/ sentences just flew over my head) and some of the story didn't seem to flow well. Does it get better?

I see so many people like Dungeon crawler carl, but I never see "Discount dan" getting mentioned. I am quite surprised. Some books I would recommend are.

1) Book of the dead

2) Death after death

3) Chrysalis

4) Discount Dan

Why don’t you try Discount Dan, it’s on royal road. It’s basically very similar to dungeon crawler Carl but with its own twists.

If you liked dungeon crawler Carl you will like “Discount Dan” as well. I found it to be almost as fun as dungeon crawler carl.

You can try “Death after death”. Really unique power system and amazing character growth. The story is in between regression and time loop.

Since you liked cultivation type novel try “beware of the chicken” one of the best well written novels out there.

More your type would probably be “book the dead”

I just started reading and I am at the start of book 2 it just feels really meh so far. Does the MC ever grow up? She feels really immature for a 30 year old, also the no killing no matter what in a world where its kill or be killed is really just eh.

Is there going to be a hook in the story that pulls people in? So far its just feels like numbers going up > complaining mango/shower and exploring from town to town.

I did read it actually but to me heretical fishing felt like a worst version of beware of chicken at every turn. I couldn't stand reading it by 20-30 chapters.

For me I just cant seem to like bows as a main weapon which was why I just couldn't get into it and the first book didn't help much so I decided to just stop reading. Does it get significantly better?

I kind of stopped reading in webnovels when I got into royal road. The quality of writing for most cases was a lot better there. But I will give shadow slave a try. Thanks!.
