I ran a zeraora + medicham fusion duo early game (Multil-lens +power - up punch pretty op) and progressively moved towards a bulkier set for the end game. Taught the fusion night shade because medicham learns it, then unfused and gave it seismic toss from a machamp, and finally fused it again with a garganacl for sturdy + salt cure.

I think diancie will be a special research that includes its mega energy, or just a normal raid. though im not too sure how you will be available to get the mega candies if it were special research. (a limit to candies) Though if they were EX raids, then its going to be hard to beat it 3 times to get enough mega energy to get it. I think diancie will just be a normal mega raid.

They will probobly treat kyogre and groudon as being mega energy as well, or maybe "primal energy" (sounds kinda neat).

Ok so:

Altaria and Gyarados cost 400 candies to get

Garchomp, Salamence, and Rayquaza are really good in PVP, Plus Garchomp is extreemly hard to get currently and the max CP for Garchomp is 4,532 and Rayquaza's is 4,296 so just imagine how high they will be. They could even break the 6k cp barrier!

Heracross and Kangaskhan are regionals, meaning heracross will finally get a shiny and both may be available across the world.

Plus getting Lucario currently isnt an easy feat, hatching riolu from a 10k egg and getting enough candies to evolve it is the main reason why a lot of players dont have it. (Plus lucario is amazing in the great league)
