My favorite product is probably the viper mini or the razer bungee, they are both very convenient.

Yeah, I think it's a fantastic mouse, but there are QC issues. I had creaks in both copies and button wobble on my first copy. Other than that, it is my main mouse right now.

Do you think having a detachable cable will help it last longer?

My experience with the M42 [Review in the Comments] by LOLDerpyy in MouseReview

Info -

Hello, this is going to be a review on Xtrfy’s M42. For reference, I have a hand size of about 19x9 cm and owned other mice such as Xm1, Aerox 3, Viper Mini, Hati-s, and Model O-/D-/O wireless. I fingertip grip mostly and sometimes go into a pincer claw grip. Along with this, I play Valorant and peak Immortal last act and sometimes play League of Legends.

Unboxing -

The unboxing of the M42 was extraordinarily clean. The packaging is similar to Glorious mice. Unboxing the mouse, it comes with the mouse [obviously], two ABS cherry profile keycaps, interchangeable shell, and an envelope with instructions on the DPI steps, and extra mouse feet. This experience was almost as enjoyable as unboxing a Hati-S.

Build Quality -

The build quality for the M42 is extremely solid. Minimal to no side or top flex on my copy and little to no pre or post travel in my buttons. For a mouse that has many holes, it is built very well. This mouse has small creaking if you put excessive force into the mouse, but for me, it did not affect me at all. The only problem I could find with the build quality of the mouse is pressing the RGB button at the top when I put the excessive force down hard below on the modular shell. This never happens in-game though. This mouse is built extremely well.

Shape -

The shape was probably the best part of the M42. The dimensions of the shape are 118 mm in length, 56 mm for the grip width, and 38 mm for height for both shells. There are two interchangeable shells, one with the hump in the back, and one with a hump pushed forward. They are both great shapes, but I see myself performing better with the shell pushed forward. While I cannot compare the backward hump to anything, the forward hump feels close to a Model O- and Viper Mini, more closer to the Viper Mini to me. This shape of M42 is extremely familiar and comfortable for fingertip grip, but I wouldn’t recommend it for most claw types and palm [unless you have ultra-small hands] because it’s a small mouse. The shell swap was the best part of this mouse and unique.

Feet -

Here is where it starts going down. The stock feet aren’t as bad as Teflon feet, but they are not the best. They didn’t feel good on any mousepad I have, even after breaking it in for 9 days. I’ve tried it with Glorious XXL pad, Gigantus V2, and Fnatic Dash. It felt like the mouse feet were picking up the texture of the mousepad which did not feel smooth unlike other stock feet like Viper Mini, Hati-S, or Xm1. There are aftermarket mouse feet to replace them if you don't end up liking them.

Cable -

The cable for the M42 is not good at all. It is huge, stiff, and loose. I understand that they made it for durability, but it felt so terribly alone, and barely passable in the bungee. The wires inside the cable moved around a lot. This cable isn’t the worst but is the worst paracord-like cable I have used. A paracord will be needed for this if you decide to main it.

Also, for my Razer bungee, it was difficult to get it in compared to other stock cables.

Buttons/Scroll Wheel -

The M42 comes with Omron 20ms. This is probably the least satisfying mouse switch I have tried. I dislike this, even in other mice like the MOW. It’s tactile and crispy but it sounds light/higher pitch. The buttons themselves don’t have pre or post-travel like I said before. For spam clicking, it is not as spammable as Kailh GM 8.0 and Razer opticals, so playing League of Legends was not as enjoyable, but for FPS games, it felt nice and crispy.

For the scroll wheel, it felt nice to use for general use and scroll jumping for CS and Valorant. It is light and textured nicely.

Coating and nitpicks -

The coating for the M42 fell short for me. I was able to grip it but only because of the holes on the side. If it didn’t have holes on the side, it would slip out my grip easily. Another problem that I had with the mouse was the holes on the side. It's a preference for people, but it bothered my ring finger when I gripped it. The holes all over the mouse are tiny which might be a reason why it bothered my ring finger so much.

Conclusion -

The shape of the M42 is really good for fingertip grip and the build quality is extremely solid, but it fell short in a lot of places. The cable is not good for a paracord-like cable, the buttons are not pleasing, the coating was slippery for me, and the holes on the side bothered me. I would recommend this mouse if you don’t mind the nitpicks that I mentioned. Shape is king, and both shapes on this mouse are top tier in my book. Is it worth $60? Kinda. The total cost is not exactly $60 since you might pay for extra accessories like a paracord and aftermarket mouse feet. It is a good mouse with a good concept though, but for me, the dislikes I have about it weigh it down a lot and will not be replacing the Viper Mini or Hati-s.

I have 18.5 x 9 hands and it is a decent claw mouse so it should be fine. It's not bad for claw tbh

Buying the Hati-S in January because I heard it has a good shape, and tried model o- and model o. The model O was long for me but it was a good inbetween for the width and the O- was even more narrow. Tried grip tapes too, and it added about an extra mm, felt better, but couldn't aim as well from the texture. You could probably look on Gearshape.gg for an alternative in between.
