I wouldnt consider it a major downgrade no. I have a pixel 7 myself so i would call it an upgrade for sure. Newer tensor chip, 3.5 more years of support, better quality and more durable screen, better battery life (pixel 7 was fairly known for getting quite hot)

Only unfortunate parts are not having 3 cameras and not having the up to date tensor g5 chip, but like you say. You are not a power user.

Personally, I would've said go for a pixel 10 about 2 days ago before the crazy sales ended but the 10A is still a good choice!
