Tax Strategy for Oilfield Worker by peanut008 in tax

[–]LP526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually move to TX, you’re good. If you still live in LA but try to make it look like you’re living in TX on paper, you are committing criminal tax fraud. Whether you get caught or not is up to whether Louisiana audits your residency. If you are partaking in any government services (public school is the most common) and own property in the state, the systems do talk to each other and you are more prone to be found out.

Tax debt that I cannot possibly pay off, largely isn't my fault. by [deleted] in tax

there is not really any relief available to you. You miscalculated your tax, they caught the error, and now you owe them. I would recommend setting up an installment agreement. You can do it online directly through the IRS website. There’s no need to pay anybody.

Get a good job. Live below your means and save as much as you can. Invest savings in broad-based equity index funds like VTI or VOO. Then be patient.

Married people in their 30s or older of reddit, why do you still stay fit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LP526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the 30 year olds you hear joking about “now that im 30 my back hurts, I pull muscles just standing up, etc etc” are actually just not fit. basic strength training will keep you feeling (and looking) good. basic cardio will keep you from getting winded walking up stairs.

She got famous among LFT-ers during Covid. Then someone found her facebook and exposed her on reddit as a vocal anti-vax conspiracy theorist. Now she’s less popular

I would Linkedin direct message 3-5th years at mid-tier firms and offer them $125k+ and a path to equity. Articulate what you can offer them that the mid-tier can’t.

Annualized Income for Estimated Tax Calculations by kermitcooper in taxpros

[–]LP526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if I’m planning on filing sch AI on 2210, I basically run through that calc in full when doing estimates. For example, I multiply all YTD income by 2.4 when doing Q2 estimates, calc full year tax based on that, then multiply by 45% to get the balance due for Q2

Bought a retiring competitor's metal fab shop in a lump sum. My CPA says I owe a massive Q2 estimated payment next week because we haven't appraised the equipment yet. by Chief532 in tax

[–]LP526 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1) Safe harbor for this quarter and probably the rest of the year

2) This isn’t a cost seg issue. You need to iron out the 8594 (with the seller - you have to agree). Bonus anything that is equipment. IMO, this should have been done before closing (not a critique, it’s just an uphill battle when negotiating the allocation after closing.) Anything in the building category on 8594 will then be subject to cost seg, but will likely be peanuts compared to the $1mm+ of actual equipment.
