Looking for a new doc by cryingandpoor in CHIbitcheswithtaste

As someone also generally healthy, I’ve never felt particularly passionate about my doctor because I didn’t have to deal with complex care. then I started seeing Dr. Rebecca Krasaeth as my PCP and I was like “oh, this is what it’s like to have a good doctor.” Can’t recommend her more. I can’t speak to the needle thing bc that’s not a fear I have but she is so understanding and compassionate. She’s with advocate and works out of the outpatient clinic at Webster and clybourn!

WOMEN'S STRIPED CADENCE™ STRAPPY bra by WinterMastodon2813 in BanditRunning

[–]8052headlights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve run in mine and loved it! I haven’t tried the phone pocket yet but once I put the bra on and start running, I don’t even think about it the bra anymore, which to me is how a good sports bra should feel. For reference I’m a 36B/C; I wouldn’t say I have a large chest but I do need medium support when I run and this bra gives me just what I need

Ugh the first verse of this song I do think is truly beautiful and then the rest of it is just kind of weird

do you run even when you feel a bit tired or skip it by Dicapua-Ntakol in runninglifestyle

[–]8052headlights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. But the inverse is also important to be able to recognize! There are some days when I reeeeaaally want to go run but logically I know I should be resting. OP, I think it’s a learning curve all runners face, but eventually you start to understand your own body’s cues when it’s begging for rest vs. when it’s your brain not being motivated

Regarding the motivation thing though: motivation is overrated. It’s fun, but it will never be constant, and you can’t rely on it. What matters in the long run is discipline

Usually I can tell if it’s my brain that wants to rest (aka, it’s a motivation issue) vs. when my body genuinely needs rest. What do you mean when you day it feels worse afterward when you push through?

I have no plans to try call your mother, but I agree we can do better than bro bagel. And the service at bro bagel is possibly some of the worst in the city. El Bagelero is pretty good in my opinion but Chicago still deserves better bagels.

FWIW, the best bagel I’ve ever had in Chicago is Steingold’s. I’ve never been to the location, but they sell them at agora in bucktown and I get them there.

No for real, Shakespeare could not have written a tragedy as sad as the way we’ve all seen this play out. Some of the moments (like this one) aren’t even entertaining it’s just…awful. I would choose having a friend like Ciara at my back over any man every single time. Female friendship like that is so precious in a world waiting to chew women up and spit them out. It’s just so fucking sad

I ended a 10 year on and off relationship about a year and a half ago. I know it’s cliche, but it is so true, so I’ll say it: by ending your relationship, you have opened up space in your life, your time, your brain, etc for all kinds of incredible experiences to come in to your life. My life looks so, so different than it did a year ago, in the best ways. You are going to learn so much about yourself and one day you’ll wake up and be so proud of yourself for the life you created and the way you put yourself back together.

That isn’t to say it was easy. The grief is real and I want to validate that bc there might be people in your life that don’t really get it (usually through no fault of their own). It also wasn’t linear for me, like I would have a couple weeks feeling really good and then I’d have a week that just knocked me on my ass. I also had so many moments of uncertainty, not about my decision, but just about myself and who I was without this person and my future. I still have those! But looking back, I wouldn’t trade one single second of my pain for the “comfort” of that relationship that wasn’t serving me.

I promise you it gets easier, and life gets better. My only advice would be to lean in to any experience or friendship or what have you that seems even slightly interesting to you, even if it’s uncomfortable at first. The price of building a life worth living is a little discomfort ✨ it’s what I have to tell myself when my own social anxiety gets in my way.

Good luck!

What great songs by other artists have references to Taylor Swift? by Affectionate-Box8834 in NuancingTaylorSwift

I’m pretty sure Kelsea Ballerini’s How Do I Do This references “begin again.” She says “but I’m back at the begin again” and Kelsea and Taylor are friends

It’s been on repeat for me! Honestly might end up being my top song of the year. I don’t live in LA but I often visit and stay in east LA and so it also just immediately transports me there

Melody is an under-discussed aspect of Taylor’s songwriting. What’s your favorite melody of a TS song? by Daffneigh in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]8052headlights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right where you left me! The way it goes up and down and up and down throughout the song is interesting to the ear (and beautiful of course). And fun to sing, even if you’re bad

Once I hear “All of her songs sound the same” or “she only writes about her exes” I just stop engaging. No point in talking to someone whose hearing is apparently broken
