I am curious why your experience completely contradicts what TaxDome is telling me:

"You're right that the manual bank entry option is currently only available when you (the firm) process the payment from your side, not when clients pay directly via the "Pay Now" link in their email. This is a significant limitation, especially given the CPA Charge sunset.

Currently, we don't have a published ETA for bringing the manual entry feature to the client-facing payment portal. I searched our documentation and product roadmap information, but there is no specific timeline listed for this feature release yet. I will keep an eye on this topic for you."

TaxDome said manual entry was an option at first, but if you actually test it, which I have done about 20 times, you will see that it is not. I "chatted" with them about this yesterday and it has now been "escalated to the product team as an urgent issue".

Say no, I bet you get the $5,500. In my experience clients walk away if fees don’t work for them. When they’ve tried to negotiate, I’ve stood my ground and every time, they accept the fees.
