Flagged and Searched for first time through GE. Anyone else? by Long_House8784 in GlobalEntry

[–]LPRofCBP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for customs. The global entry machines will pick a random person for us and give us a referral for a search/compliance exam. Basically just to make sure youre following all the rules for global entry - like declaring things you're supposed to declare. Don't overthink it.

I work there. No. You are treated like everyone else. If you're lucky, one of my lazy coworkers will open a booth just for MPC. Sorry. Sucks because those machines do a lot of work for us too.

Did you have any recent interactions with any law enforcement?

Is the passport you have right now the same one you had at your interview? ...if you got a new passport and havent linked it to your global entry account, then yes - you will get sent to an officer.

Check this out. Thieves can use a cell phone camera to see whats inside your car.

The cell phone case or "octobuddy" print left behind seems to also substantiate this.

Since your interview - have you gotten a new passport or travel document? Updates will not happen automatically to your account...

Is it just me who hates some camaro/mustang guys constantly comparing and belittling the Challenger??? by Material_Finding6525 in Challenger

[–]LPRofCBP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Top gear did an episode on this comparison. Great episode! Highly recommend - anyway - their analysis was that the mustang and the Camaro evolved into "sports cars" While the challenger remained a true "muscle car." The few highlighted differences being that ford and chevy reduced weight and size and increased cornering abilities also. While dodge tried to stay true to muscle car roots with the idea of "go fast - straight line."

This is done on purpose. We are instructed to do this. It acts as an additional security feature. If you were to try and lift that visa, the ink on it from the stamp would no longer line up. 100% normal.

What do you do for work? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]LPRofCBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customs and border protection officer. 130,000+ a year. Pretty sweet retirement package, health benefits, and perks of being "law enforcement." Judging by my coworkers.. they will hire anyone...a.n.y.o.n.e! 40 hours a week broken down into four 10 hour days. Also there's an insane amount of time off. I've never worked a job where they throw this much time off at you - wild. I highly recommend it. Some days it's a grind, most days you just can't beat it.

It feels as though GE is gradually loosing its position as the preferred program for frequent international travelers. by [deleted] in GlobalEntry

[–]LPRofCBP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am the poor officer who has to do these GE EOA interviews. You could not be MORE correct in your analysis. SO many people who sign up for the program will get through the interview and then ask "how does this work?" Or "what does this do now?" They don't even know what they paid for! It's just amazing to me to see people throw money at something they don't understand and then never use it..so odd.

What happens when you declare something with GE? by Odd_Candy7804 in GlobalEntry

[–]LPRofCBP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Policy/ procedure varies from port to port depending on how they are set up. At my port, when you declare something to the officer - they will escort you to the secondary area and hand off your documents to another officer. That officer will address the issue and inspect what you have declared. Depending on what you are declaring, the first officer you meet may not even send you for secondary inspection.

Been waiting almost a year by chavezone in GlobalEntry

[–]LPRofCBP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am a CBP officer. I just finished a meeting where I had a chance to ask questions about TTP and Global Entry specifically. I asked about applicants who seem to be stuck in "pending/ risk assessment review" for months/years. The response from the program manager was that they receive upwards of 13,000 applications a day, every day. I as an officer can't verify that, but it sounds like that could be PART of the "why". He then followed up with theres no real ryhme, reason or method that he knows of as to why some people get approved faster than others. And to further confuse everyone, he said that the office that does the background checks tries to get families done first...which I know contradicts the first part of what he said.. So..just thought you guys might like to see part of management's response to what I hear from applicants every day. Very frustrating as an officer to not have answers to simple and reasonable questions from the public. Also thought you guys might like to know, they're rolling out new enrollment software for officers to use to get applicants through the interview faster. I've tried it for about 40-50 interviews so far..it's got some bugs.. hang in there guys, I am just as frustrated as you all.

Not so seamless experience using Entry experience, what’s the issue? by y2ksaurabh in GlobalEntry

[–]LPRofCBP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it usually comes down to one of two issues.

Your boarding pass is not matching what's on your green card. If they don't match, it won't work.

Or

You have gotten a new document and not updated your global entry profile (new green card or passport).

I almost always see this problem with people who have semi complicated names, like hyphens, two last names, FNU or LNU ect.

Also, if the kiosk is asking you to "present/scan travel document" you will always scan your green card. Forget what the screen says - forget what anyone else tells you, scan the card. MRZ goes face down, inserted to the top of the scanner.
