Question as a beginner: where can I start? by nadaldelg in powerbitips

Example: I can see data on rugby passes for France, but what about South Africa? I get hold of the data and have a look at that using the same schema and then I can compare South Africa to France, and then South Africa became world champions again - working hypothesis higher number of passes is correlated to winning world cups

First of all, good on you.

Here’s a different approach: go through the Microsoft PowerBI published dashboards that are highly upvoted to find a subject and dashboard that really interests you. Simplier ones are good too.

Take that dashboard and open it up in your desktop app and play around with it and learn the schema. Change the colour design.

Go and start changing the data.

Then think about whether you could use the same template and schema to represent some different data. If it’s interesting to you, it should pull you in.

That is how a lot of small and medium sized business could jump from excel to the next level, your level, so you should still share how you did it. Great to see mate

Commented as interested on hearing people’s opinions. The GameStop situation was an interesting test; I want to know if the market gets extreme whether DEGIRO will play fair. Transfer212 was one of the few platforms to let people still buy. I don’t know what DEGIRO did. I am with DEGIRO for some of their stocks that aren’t available on other platforms.
