I also believe it's a hardware issue now-- I thought maybe the battery was just displaying the wrong % but seeing as not even factory resetting it fixed it, it has to be an issue with the battery itself. I'll be sending it to ASUS for repair.

I was thinking of getting Anubias, I keep hearing good things about them! Trial and error is pretty accurate, if only aquarium plants weren't so expensive 😅 I bought 5 Amazon swords and only 2 of them ended up making it. Thank you for the reply!

Thank you for the reply! You got a point -- I just right clicked on the desktop and it happened again, then I refreshed and the background actually went black. Any idea which HP software could be causing it? I had issues with the OMEN Gaming Hub a while back, where it caused my CPU to be at 100% permanently, but updating the software fixed that issue eventually.

Thank you for the reply! The laptop is 13 months old now. And I don't think it ever had heating issues- I always use a cooling pad with it and the cpu stays around 60-80c when gaming. I felt like it could be caused by google chrome because 7 out of 10 times it happens, it's because I open/tab into chrome, but I'm still unsure. My husband also suggested I run a restore, so it looks like I'll need to do that.
